I wouldn't mind a copy of this SuFu guide is someone can PM/email me it please?

Williamsburg or Manhattan looks like the places to stay? Looking for cheap but nothing too bad - just a decent bed and shower at a fairly central location that I can get subways to/from.

Williamsburg or Greenpoint are good if you're after an airbnb, Bushwick is getting more exciting these days but is a bit of a trek on the subway, Park Slope is mega nice but again a bit of a hike

Stayed in Williamsburg in an airbnb apartment for a week. Nice place and the neighborhood was cool, but it was 30-35 minutes from leaving the apartment to getting in to Manhattan, which got a bit tiresome towards the end of the week.

If I could afford to, I'd stay in Manhattan and just spend a day or two in Brooklyn. If you do stay in Brooklyn though make sure you take the East River ferry from there to Wall Street (or vice-versa) one day.

Thanks for the recommendations. Spotted a brilliant flat in Williamsburg, will need to have a look at Manhattan.

I'm looking at 9 nights, is that too long? Don't want to run out of time as i won't be back over in some time.

I'd look at downtown if you want to stay in Manhattan, most of the best stuff is there bar the touristy things

Brick Lane Curry place - The tamarind tandoori lamb chops there are unbelievable. My Dad bigged these up something ridiculous before i went in, saying how he understands celebrities flying in take out food from all over the world if its as good as this, but they are easily the best chops you will ever taste.

Which one did you do? Just looked as we're going in May but there's 3 locations and all have different ratings.

It wasnt far from The Strand Book store, which is brilliant as well, took a suitcase full back with me.

Edit - 2nd Avenue.

Anyone been recently and can recommend hotels that are well located in manhattan or basically anywhere that side of the East River? Can't decide for the life of me where. Had my head set on AirBNB but missus isn't too keen on using that on our first time in NYC.

Residence Inn looks decent as does The Gem (SUFU guided). Looking for somewhere max £850 each for 9 nights.

it's nice and quiet. a quick tram ride and you're in manhattan - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roosevelt_Island_Tramway
