Frost and some snow. Compared to here it's really cold. On the streets most people were wearing hats and gloves. The subway is much like our tube so getting about isn't difficult all you need is a map.
It was an unusual experience for me because I've never gone anywhere that far on my own before and I hate travelling.
Americans are generally polite and very talkative unlike here and the women must take more pride in their appearance. Typical massive food portions. A NY breakfast was MASSIVE. You feel extremely small against the skyscrapers. I don't think I could live in a big fast paced city like that. Next time I will go WEST side. LA or somewhere in that direction in the summer not winter.

No offense nokiaboy, but isn't that a bit depressing to go on holiday on your own? Especially eating out, shopping going out to bars, etc.

I been to conferences / holidays combined on my own for 10 days or more before, like in Japan / boston / LA. I just made decent plans and did something fun each day. You would have more fun with other people of course but sometimes you don't have any options.

i've been travelling on my own since i was 15, the majority of times its via work and i have little choice, but i love holidaying on my own especially in the states, its the only place i feel totally comfortable going out for food/drinks by myself.

I could understand going on your own for work related stuff, like confereences. But for a leisurely holiday it seems a bit depressing to go on your own, especially to a place like NYC where everyone is with friends or family, etc. in the holiday time. Each their own I guess, no offense btw.

Yes basically it is shit. I was already there for university. Eating alone is not that much fun, I did it for more than 6 months every weekday when I was living in the hotel. I never drink alone, its a social thing for me. Of course you see everyone else eating and drinking socially and you just go back to your hotel room and watch tv or something, but thats life.
