What's the best place for bbq type food, hop and cleaver or Longhorns? Or anywhere else better?

Also, a nice place for some cocktails with the Mrs? Nowhere too Geordie shore

For cocktails you should try botanist, pleased to meet you, alvinos. There are a few others on grey street.

Not sure about bbq food, but hop and cleaver in general is decent.

pleased to meet you is good, but it is always rammed, so if you want a bit of energy go there. i'd recommend nitehawks (on grey street, literally just right of the theatre) opened in september and does great classic cocktails and has a changing menu of in-house, much smaller and intimate then other bars.

Nowhere does decent BBQ food in Newcastle, just head to Fat Hippo for a burger.

Got a stag do in Newcastle. Anywhere informal (read bar, pub with good food, burger / pizza place) that can do a group of 15?

Also, on a Friday night with no idiotic fancy dress are we going to have issues just wandering around places?

Think people get the wrong idea about Newcastle. To me it’s never been like that, proper good night out. Probably only 2nd to Liverpool for me. As long as you don’t look for trouble you won’t get any.

To be honest mate I've 0 idea. I actually meant are we gonna have any issues just getting into places as a large group - any specific bars / pubs which don't care would be great!

Ah right I see mate. You should be fine. There was about 80-100 of us queuing up for Tiger Tiger after a boxing event with no problems. Obviously all depends on the night but you should have a hassle free good time Cool

You should be good, newcastle is probably one of the more relaxed places you could go.

Great place for a night out, pleased to meet you is a nice place for drinks if you want somewhere a bit nicer and more civilised. Livellos has a nice little outdoor area, place itself is a bit posey but it’s usually a good spot for women which I’m assuming will be on the agenda.

Cheers both. Proper mixed group so let's see how it goes. Assume I'm good in vans/common projects for most places? Smiling

For day drinks maybe try Jesmond (Osborne Road) or Ouseburn (Cluny, Tyne etc).

For large groups for food you could try Pizza Punks, Hop and Cleaver, Purple Bear, Reds BBQ…or just head to Weatherspoons (Mile Castle is usually full of stags/hens) or go to By The River Brew across the river. Get a good curry at Sachins.

Some decent pubs, The Bridge Tavern, Lady Greys, Beeronomy, Town Wall, The Forth, Tilly's.

Cocktails try Botanist, Alchemist, Pleased to Meet You, YOLO, some others down Grey Street.

For something a bit louder try Stack, Filthy's, Revolución de Cuba, Tokyo, Popolos and just about anything on Collingwood (Florita's etc).

Avoid the Gate.

You'll probably just end up in Popworld Laughing out loud

The above from Abagnale is really sound advice - would only add in places like Alvinos (terrace on the roof), MSA for later night bar/club feel. For nightclubs, big nights at Digital (check listings), Cosmic (again listings), cooler crowd at Cobalt Studios (Ouseburn) or World Head Quarters (near Alvinos)
