End clothing for a lot of the brands we chat about on here and consortium / tier 0 kicks. And Union clothing for jeans galore and some nice brands like garbstore in one location, and then lower end streetwear and a good selection of penfield in the other union location opposite end. Can't remember street names. And Jesmonds the student area so will be a lugh at the weekend, lots of bars on osborne road. Town is nuts on the weekend too.

Cheers Loom, I knew about End clothing but didn't know about Union, seems High Bridge/Grey street might be worth a look. Going to meet people at Osbourne's in Jesmond then maybe on to town later. Do yo know if the Barbour outlet in Jarrow is worth a visit?

I went into Union the other day Eek the decent clothing was unnoticeable as I studied my 1970s environment.

Electrik Sheep has sometimes got some good t-shirts in. Barbour outlet reminds me of Tk Maxx, load of crap but some real cheep gems.

+1 on most of the above, Love the Bridge Tavern.

The Forth, The Town Wall, Jazz cafe and Tilley's worth a look in if you are around that way.

Lane 7 for 'boutique bowling'. Newish Hype places The Botanist (pretty cool inside) and Hop and Cleaver, nicely done out. Both a bit style over substance though.

Lola Jeans was decent last time i was in also. There's a brew dog as well if that's your bag.

The all seeing eye and The poison Cabinet decent cocktail palces.

MSA and Tokyo for late bars

Do you know where? It's pretty easy to get into town on the metro from Gateshead, worth heading in to town, depending on how long you have etc.

The Forth and The Town Wall are my favourites not far from the train station.

Fat hippo normal shout for hype burger stuff. Orchid's decent chinese, yet to have a good Thai or Viet meal round Newcastle. Various good/cheap Lebanese/Turkish places though.

Yeah, Fat Hippo. Burger Stop is good, but very informal.

Bridge Tavern is normally decent for pub food.

I had a lamb burger on the roof terrace of The Botanist the other night which was actually pretty nice, wasn't impressed the first time I went. Hop and Cleaver is a nice setting, but still don't rate the food that much.

Thai I would go here: http://www.electric-east.co.uk/ It's pretty good.

This place also: http://www.little-saigon-online.co.uk/ good food, but setting is not as good. Or Bankok Cafe.

Depends what you are after/if you're with the bird.

Little Saigon looked to be closed down when I walked past the other day. Used to be really nice but went downhill badly the last couple of years.
