Yea my dad is buying shares for me in RBoS, he thinks its a chance to make a killing. But hell i dont know anything about it either.

it is indeed, and they have a fucking amazing purpose-built head office, has it's own shopping street in the middle of it and is the size of a small village

Bear in mind the FTSE 100 index has climbed about 50% in the past 3 years.

what effect would that have? would it be unlikely to climb further because of that? im sorry I dont really understand these things

He is just saying that the shares have doubled in the last 3 years so your investments are on par with the general direction of the market.

after nine eleven stocks crashed so if you invested after that you are just seeing the market return to normal. the chance of doubling your money in 3 years in the stock market is slim unless you take a very high risk on new stock.
