albufeira or surrounding bits ? Might be a bit chavy, but im not sure. Ive always fancied Lagos as the is a surf scene there.

Caesars is the best IMO, you can wander through bits built in the 60's, 70's, 80's etc.

Luxor is cheaper, and pretty good if you stay in the pyramid.

Hoover Dam and Death Valley are good day trips, so is Grand Canyon, but it quite a long trip.

Lagos/Luz.

Vilamoura is alright for a night or two to look at the ludicrously expensive yachts and the toss bags that own them. Parents lived in Luz then in Lagos (no maddie). Love it in Lagos - so chilled out, close to west coast for really good beaches. Restaurants/bars/cafes also really good in Lagos and always lots going in. Touristy but not in a 'shoot me' way.

Luz is more quiet and full of ex-pats but really relaxed.

Cheers, anyone else vouch? Looking a Nikko or Grand Hyatt but read a review saying stay in Fishermans Wharf for 'going out' ?

Cheers Nick but already booked Cosmopolitan for Vegas

I've stayed at the King George in SF a couple of times, pretty good location (near Union Square) and not overly expensive.

Fishermans Wharf is a bit naff, it's like Blackpool

http://www.economycarrentals.com/

Used it last summer and already booked through them for this summer (never barca though), hands down best prices i could find. For some cities they deliver the car to your hotel.

Oh nice one mate.

It's like 40% cheaper than the other main rental guys. What's the catch?

Never found one yet…but still ask myself how their prices could be that lower…high volume might be the answer but they're less known than any other rental….don't know how, but it works.

Only drawback i might think to is that you don't know in advance through what rental you're going to book…

Well, CDW is at 1500€ which isn't too far or more than what major rentals offer…

You can arrange your own insurance to cover the excess, costs 30 or 40 quid a year.

Heading to Vancouver at the end of August for 2 weeks to visit some friends, we're going to hire a car to drive down to Portland (stopping in Seattle) over about 3-4 days. Got a place to stay in Vancouver, but can anyone recommend anywhere decent (not too pricey) to stay in Seattle / Portland? Also anywhere worth visiting in any of these places?
