Anyone familiar with Goa? Thinking of a 2 week holiday in July, want amazing beaches and cheap accommodation, bungalow / hut type places as opposed to 5*.

Possibly this type of set-up..

Goa is blinding son. Didnt do the hut thing though, stayed in the marriot, its five star for two star money. Been a few times, with a slut and me pal.

looks amazing Ruben.

My Mrs is working in Australia at the moment - wheres a good "middle ground" to meet between there and UK that can be done on the cheap? Goa looks OK, guessing Thai aswell…

Its easy to do both, penangs city/beach with all the markets of fake everything on the planet and monkeys in the street, weirdest fish in the world in tanks you chose to eat, and dirt dirt cheap, langkawi is really just beaches and really tranquil and quiet and a bit more trumpy, but still cheap.

Penang is good if you're into night markets and food, but personally I found the beach there a tad under whelming.

Langkawi isn't what it used to be, far too touristy these days. Avoid is my advice.

My suggestion would be, spend a few nights in KL for the city life, then get an internal flight with Airasia to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah for a nicer beach resort/experience, which will probably be as cheap if not cheaper than Penang and Langkawi.

You can go scuba diving too if that's your thing, a days course is only £65-£70 per person with a company called Downbelow, includes transport to and from your hotel. You spend the morning learning the basics, and going on your first dive, break for lunch, then spend the rest of the afternoon doing a guided dive. The water is really clear too compared to other diving destinations such as those in Thailand and Indonesia etc.

The missus and I loved it, you don't have to have any previous experience or be good at swimming, and it was pretty much one instructor to two person ratio. If you're worried about the language barrier, all of the instructors are either English speaking Malays, Australian, or in the case of ours a Welsh born Malaysian girl Laughing out loud

Oh and if you get bored of the beach and want something more active, you can do a before sunrise guided hike up Mount Kinabalu for some spectacular views.

Did Sabah from Malaysia via air Asia a couple years back. Was amazing. Stayed on a little island a few miles off the coast that you could walk around in about an hour. Was guarded by the Malaysia army to stop pirates robbing the tourists!

I stayed in one of the rooms in the sea at this gaff, so i will never ever hear a bad word about langkawi, my favourite place in the world. Though i did get burgaled there it still didnt take the shine off.
The burglar was a monkey by the way, nicked all my fucking chocolate and goodies i brought from home.

Came back and the gaff was totally ransacked. Really did think id been turned over, proper shit myself cos i had bundles hidden in the pocket of my jacket in the wardrobe and that was strewn on the floor woth everything else. Then after a few minutes it dawned on me that nothing was missing but m and m's, snickers and jaffa cakes. Laughing out loud

P.s seriously have only just remembered this, but i woke up in the middle of the night another night and the cunt was sitting at the end of my bed staring at me (massive fucker as well, looked as big as me). You aint never heard a grown man scream that loud in your life (which obviously woke her up and she was even louder). Couldnt leave a window or door open again after that, and if im totally honest i couldnt even sit out on the decking over the sea after that. Oops

Spent a month in Malaysia last summer.
Stayed in Langkawi for a week in August. Decent hotel (casa del mar) but other than that thought the place was a shithole.
