Yeah definitely man. The wee cafe's up in UBUD might not accept USD so that's a wise move. Enjoy.

Right folks. I am heading to Japan in October. I fly out on the 12th to Osaka and return on the 22nd from Tokyo. So that essentially gives me 9 proper days. I want to do all the usual tourist stuff and would like some suggestions for must do's. Definitely want to see Hiroshima (have heard it's doable as bullet train day trip from either Osaka/Kyoto) and I am wanting to know if it's worth doing 2 days Osaka 2 days Kyoto then 5 in Tokyo? Or any other suggestions as to how I should split my time? I want to stay in hostels as I'll be on my own so any suggestions for that would be welcome as well. Cheers.

Tokyo will definitely take a a lot of energy out of you as so much too see. Walking and train is the best thing to do.
Where you staying?

I haven't decided yet. Looking for recommendations as to hostels and areas etc. Even if it meant staying a few days in one neighborhood and moving to another for the remaining few.

Staying in Shibuya will make your life a lot easy, if not Shinjuku.
How much you looking on accommodation a night?
Food on average 500 to 1000 yen. Loads of places to eat in Shinjuku.

@Phish i can get you a number we got taken out last year, 8 man boat with jetski and ski doo things was about 3k for the day i think. It's trumpy but well worth it (bare in ind you have to pay petrol as well when you get back - cost me about 600 euro).
@Disco A day in Kyoto is enough, go to the bamboo forest as well. Tokyo like Carl said, saying that it's easy to get around on the tube once you get the hang of it.

@carl I have a pretty reasonable budget for some decent hostels probably around the £50 - 70 per night range. I'll get myself a hotel room for the last night in Tokyo though so I can have a decent kip and what not before travelling home. Any ideas what kinda places I should go for in that kind of budget range?
@MB so you'd recommend 1 day KYOTO then 3 in Osaka(1 of which travel to Hiroshima)?

Anyone got any advice about Sorrento? Looking to go there in September for our honeymoon.
Restaurants that are good for vegetarians would be a good shout.

You get hotels in Shinjinku for that money maybe even Shibuya no need for a hostel.

@ carl and rira. Cheers for the suggestions. I am travelling alone so don't want to be in a hotel room on my own for the whole time. I want to meet people for potential nights out etc occasionally going off on my own for specific sights. So ideally I was looking to hear from anyone who has stayed in good hostels with a mix of nationalities etc.

Is it still sunny at the time ur reaching.
Tokyo will wear u out, if your out all day you just want to sleep. Unless your a hardcore raver.

I have read that it's a pleasant enough temperature that time of year. Around 15-20degC on average. With occasional downpours. I've been told before Tokyo will wear me down but it'd still be nice to maybe do some things during the day with fellow travellers and have a few social drinks/dinner with someone at night.

DT really depends on who you meet, some people on really tight trip schedule.
But everyone is really friendly.

Cheers man. Will just go with the flow. Appreciate the input.
