Eurostar? I've booked for middle of December to Brussels for just under £80 return..

Never been before so decent location would help. Also wanna do the gun range thing and anything else you can recommend to do. Going with the lads for a long weekend.
Cheers
Ah right, I went with the missus so budget was a touch higher, so am not much help on that front.

Give this place a try if you want to sample different beers:
http://www.praguebeermuseum.com/

It's not actually a museum, it's a regular spit 'n' sawdust style bar. Was playing some decent music when I went, lively at night and more chilled in the day, loads of ale and well priced.

James Dean diner isn't exactly authentic Prague, but we went downstairs to the bar/club on Friday and Saturday night and it was full of local talent, so maybe worth a look late-on if you're on a lads weekend.

Fishmarket in the am
Groninger for meat and beer party

Any other suggestions, night or day?

+1 for Golden Pudel. Such a cool place.

Anyone has any tips for Budapest? I am going over new years so specifically a nice place to dine and celebrate the 31. December. General recommendations welcome too.

Is Rio safe? Is it overblown in the media or am I dumb to take my family there?
Not normally a worry type but just about to drop a lot on a holiday to Brazil and getting second thoughts.
Kids are 10 and 8 so not gonna be out drinking in Lapa or St Teresa till 3am, will probably be in hotel soon after dark and doing tourist bits.

We are up north so by the time we got a train down it would probably work out the same. Just booked flights last night, £390 for two of us. Annoying when it would have been £220 a few weeks back.

I wouldnt worry to much. just dont flash around fancy things and dont run around stupid at night. make sure to go up to the 2 brothers mountain, found it much cooler than the christ - better view also.

@collizhun: for clubbing go to "uebel & gefaehrlich"

Ooft £200 each to fly to brussels! Eurostar way nicer and better value but if you're up north possibly the ferry? You can get it to Zeebrugge from Hull.

Similar question about train tickets. Journey from Sheffield to London I want to book in January has just gone on sale (12 weeks advance) but is super expensive. Yet I can book the same journey on 14th november for £17.

Is there a set time in advance when the cheaper tickets go on sale?

So, was due to be flying out to Puerto Vallarta yesterday which has obviously not happened, full refund and got rebooked yesterday for Miami as time off etc already sorted.

Now staying here: http://www.vintrohotels.com/. Any must see Miami recommendations? Have been before, Wynwood area looks pretty good, might head to the Electric Pickle on Halloween, potentially art deco walking tour again.

Any good shop/food/drinks recommendations?

Also, got a shitload of pesos I need to change into dollars, assuming will get a better rate in the states rather than two transactions here?

Is there anything worth doing / seeing relatively close to Heathrow?

I'm going to have 9 hours between flights (at the end of December) and don't fancy sitting in the airport for the whole time but also don't really want to head into London for just a few hours.

Keep checking the site of the train company (virgin?), prices drop a few weeks into the sale period then rise closer to the date.

Thanks. Was a few days after in the end. Found out you can set up alerts with thetrainline like with skyscanner to monitor fluctuations in price

SW Trains are so disappointing compared to Virgin. Especially first class, those old fashioned big wooden cabins you got in the past were so much better than a blue cloth seat and a curtain…

Osterley park maybe Andy? You can get the picadilly line straight there. Also Hampton court which is probably nicer but you'd need to get a cab I should think.
