Going in the other direction. Playa Carmen then up to Nicaragua. Heard mixed things about Nicaragua…what was your view? Where is worth going in the South West? Only going for 10 days in total.

How much are they? There are so many hotels on the strip in every price range. Are you only looking at Bellagio, Caesar's, Wynn, etc….?

Don't forget the exchange rate is shocking - will likely go back up a bit after Brexit vote if the UK stays in.

Just back from Bali. Got some great tips for there if anyone interested.
If, like you, I was flying in cold for 11 days then mainstream Costa Rica would be way more accessible and easier to do a bunch of things in a short space of time than Nica, which is undeveloped. Arenal and Naraya Springs are good, and I've heard good things about the Andaz and El Mangroove in Papagyao peninsula, and check out Kura Design Villas (rainforest / Ballena Marina National Park). Most people say to avoid San Jose due to it being a hive of scum and villany but I thought it was fine, long as you discreet and savvy. Cool cafes and hipster ale pubs are springing up there now.
South, like proper south west, I stayed in Dominical and Corcovado where there are no paved roads, I'd gone feral by then and avoided all the gringo hotspots; you can't get down that way in rainy season anyway unless you're in a speed boat which aren't readily available. So I wouldn't bother trying that far down.
I'd probably avoid Jaco, Manuel Antonio, and Puerto Viejo.

I have illwill, five years ago though. Bussed in from Nicaragua and made my way down to Bahia Drake with a few stops in between.

Anyone know of any good websites/deals for Vegas? I've not been for years now, but looking to go late this year/early next. Hotel prices seem crazy, even for Winter months.

Prices have rocketed since I was last there then. We did a week in a fountain-view room at the Bellagio, plus BA direct (including transfers from Manchester), for £1800 in April 2010.

I went to corcovado years ago and it was incredible - had to fly in and stayed in tents by the sea. Hear it's a bit more developed these days.
Tortuguero was also pretty great - stayed at this turtle research centre for a couple of days, night boat through a river full of cayman to get in, you can go out on the turtle laying expeditions and we got woken up by howler monkeys going directly past where we were sleeping one morning.

Happy to hear about Bali Selkie.
I'll be going in September for my wedding and honeymoon.
At the moment we're trying to decide whether to stay in Seminyak (East) or Sanur (West) for part of our trip. We've been advised Seminyak is the very touristy area, but very convenient.
