Let me know if you still need some info

Yes please. We've booked flights to Pisa and a car for 12 days. Planning on taking 2 or 3 days to drive down the east coast and doing similar up the west coast on the way back. Thinking of staying in a trulli for a couple of nights then somewhere on the coast in Puglia for a few nights which we can and use as a base for exploring and swim in the sea.

Niche one but has anyone got some recs for Gdansk? Going for a chilled out weekend with girlfriend for her birthday. Whilst I'm interested in the history of the city I want to make sure I've got other bases covered - would be great to have some restaurant recommendations for her birthday and anything else worth doing or seeing.

Went there on a stag but had a good look around and was well impressed by the place.

Plenty of old architecture to admire and the solidarity museum looked interesting. Loads of amber jewelers if your bird is into that. Gdynia and Sopot are round the corner so can explore there too.

Couldn't tell you the names of any restaurants we ate at but they were all excellent and cheap as chips. One that was attached to a brewery was particularly good.

Stayed at the Hilton but it cost fuck all too.

Your opening sentence had me worried but all excellent news - it looks like a great looking city. Big fan of Jurassic Park and have read about amber being a thing there, will investigate. Is Sopot worth making a trip to if we're only there for two nights?

To be honest we felt right out of place as a stag there. Got some seriously dirty looks in the nicer restaurants.

The biggest contingent seemed to be older German couples. Dunno if that's much better Laughing out loud

Sopot is just down the road so def worth a visit. Think we got a train there but it's fuzzy.

Go karting was mint if you fancy that? Was shaking like a shitting dog trying to fire the AK47 though. Horrible experience. Definitely sack that one.

Which part? the Med or south west/Atlantic? I've been to Biarritz in first 2 weeks of September and had great weather, you can get the odd storm off the sea with the Pyrenees as well but generally ok - not sure how it holds for the rest of the month tho

Was an hour north of Biarritz last week, was high 20s or low 30s for the whole week. Pissed down with thunderstorms on the last night though.

I'd imagine by the end of September you'd probably get a mix of sunny days and cloudy days with average temps around 20ish.

I was there too - we go pretty much every end of August/start of September and have never had so much rain - nearly every night and morning but cleared by the afternoon and had some proper
Lovely weather in between

Yeah there's plenty of options, depending on what you are looking for.
The cote des basques in Biarritz is right in the town and a huge beach so you can find a quiet peak (but disappears totally at high tide so it's a mid-mid tide spot). Good for long boarders near the town but the peaks to the south of the beach have a bit more punch for shortboarders. It does get good there for sure and the vibe in the water is more mellow than Hossegor - but if you are hunting barrels you are better if in Hossegor (which is only 40minutes or so from Biarritz)

There's plenty more beach breaks to the south, the beaches in Bidart can have good days. Hendaye is a good shout for a more manageable wave when it's big and blown out elsewhere. Guethery has Parlementia if you like big waves! Lafitenia is meant to be a good point break, but I've never been.

Just to the north of Biarritz you have the beach breaks of Anglet which are similar to Hossegor but I've only been there once.

I think the Biarritz area has more options than Hossegor, you'll be able to avoid the crowds a bit more, in my opinion there's more going on generally anyway so if it's flat or you're not just after waves it's a better option
