I'll be heading that way in April too for a week, but plan to split my time between Bologna, Modena and Ravenna. Got a table booked for Osteria Francescana (number 2 restaurant in the world, was previously number 1) in Modena. It might be worth looking into as well as it's only a short train ride from Bologna.

In Bologna you might try:

- Piatto Rotto Trattoria Gourmet & Wine Bar
- Osteria 137
- Trattoria Da Me
- Casa Monica
- Acqua Pazza (sea food, a bit outside the city centre)
- Banco del Vino (Pizza)

Just a few off the top my head, will add if i remember something more

Is the best place to stay Kotor? bit stuck for ideas want to go somewhere different but thats a short/cheap flight. Any help or ideas appreciated.

Kotor is nice, but small. Can do it all in 2 days or have a relaxed few days there. We also went to Becici and Budva which are to Russians what the costa del sol is to us. Pretty tacky all round and not a great deal to see. Porto Montegro has a nice restaurant or two and is worth a look.

We went Kotor then Budva and wouldn't bother with Budva.

Kotor really nice - you could go Porto Montenegro and go to the Lido for the day which has infinity pool out to the sea but Tivat overall isn't great.

We got a Serbian with a speedboat from Kotor too who took us out to the bay and few sites around there, disused prison island, church in the bay, little towns around the bay, submarine holes in the mountains etc. then dropped us at Porto Montenegro - was about 120 euros - worth it.

We also end up getting the bus to Dubrovnik (bout 3 hours trip) for a couple of nights as Budva was crap. If you haven't been to Dubrovnik that and Kotor would make a good week away.

Going to Hong Kong in a couple of weeks, mostly to eat all the dim sum. Any tips on things to do and see that I won't have seen on Anthony Bourdin or travel man? Laughing out loud

Booked a trip to a Greek island, but need to do a stop (both ways) in Athens.

Anyone been to and can recommend a decent, nicely designed hotel?

Went for work a few years ago. Were some nice restaurants, bars and night clubs. Not sure what else there was to do; other than point out where there had been assassinations and fighting. But I did enjoy it.

I was talking to some Lebanese recently and they were saying how expensive it is to go out there now, not sure whether it actually is, or whether they were just being obnoxious/pretending to be rich. Although there is serious vanity there.

I'm intrigued though, what made you think of travelling there?

I’ve been to most of the popular cities in Europe; Berlin, Lisbon, Barca, Paris etc and never been to the Middle East. Used to have a couple mates from a Beirut who said it was fun, also saw this:

Istanbul and Beirut are great.
I did quite a few places before it kicked off a few years ago.
Even Damascus was pretty cool.
Got a taxi from Beirut to Damascus and it was a hairy experience.

Nightlife in Istanbul and Beirut are ace. If your going Beirut you may as well spend some time in Tel Aviiv.
Really nice place and the food all over Mid East is amazing.

Not so much a tip (and pretty obvious, i know), but try to avoid buying from touts outside the ground. Was there last year and they were asking €70 each.

Planning a holiday this year with the missus and wanted to hit a few places.
Was thinking of the following, and in this order:

Hong Kong - 3 nights (Will do a whole day trip to Macau whilst there)
Bangkok - 3 nights
Krabi - 7 nights

If anyone has been before and can recommend anything, that would be great.
Or if its worth shortening or adding anything in, let me know.
