Anyone ever been Oktoberfest in Munich? Any dos/donts?

Got a stag do there in a couple weeks.

Booking a table is mandatory if you want to stay in one of the tents, but you have to do it months and months in advance.
Without a table you can still get in in the very early morning and find one of the few free ones, or sit in the booked one until when people with reservation show up. Consider there's people queueing up in front of them so you really have to go early. They won't serve you beers if you're not seated.
Once the tents are full there's no way to get in unless someone leaves, so in case you're in don't go out unless you have a booked table\wristband so that they will let you back in.

Personally I'd never spend the day outside as it's just food stalls and a luna park, while the atmosphere in the tents is great.
Outside gets interesting after a few liters for a shooting range! Laughing out loud
The first Saturday they don't serve you drinks until 12, when the hunters' parade ends and the city major pours the first glass

Try not to get raped (in reply to Oktoberfest although same probably applies to Benidorm)

Sounds like it’s going to be shit.

I think they have booked tickets somewhere but I don’t think it’s the tents. Will be a shambles no doubt.

Will take my rape alarm as an extra precaution.

Haven’t done the Munich one but did Stuttgart and assuming it’s similar can only confirm what anto said, you really need to be booked into the tents. Usually it’s about €20 and you get a couple of steins and a chicken dinner.

They do a morning/afternoon session then late afternoon/evening session so really you need to have somewhere booked for both as when you get turfed out the late session are already queueing up to get in for the second sitting.

Providing you’re booked in somewhere you’ll have an absolute riot, we loved it. Although the locals we spoke to didn’t rate the Munich one, said it’s too busy and if you stop drinking they just throw you out. Not sure how accurate that is though.

^ around the JBL walk area.

Dubai is a one off place, but stay around the JBL area, go and drink at places like Billionaires Mansion, then get the hell out of there.
