Any of the places I’m on the Kent coast would be decent for a few days. Broadstairs, Margate, Whitstable etc.

I like The Principal Hotel in Manc. The Refuge attached to the hotel is top for food and drinks.

For anyone that went Venice recently, what’s the best area to stay in and how did you find it recently?

Will be staying for 3 nights, just after some good food and wine bars.

A things to do list would also be appreciated.

Cannaregio or Dorsoduro are the best areas imo, much more local and authentic than central ones.

This is a very short list of places where I've recently been, mostly cicchetti places, in the above areas:

- Al Timon Bragozzo
- Paradiso Perduto
- Vino Vero
- Osteria alla Bifora
- Taverna San Trovaso
- Pasticceria Toletta
- Osteria ai Pugni
- Cantine del Vino già Schiavi
- Osteria Al Squero
- Osteria Anice Stellato

Supposed to be flying to Crete on Thursday but Shapps looks like he's just fucked us and can't be arsed to mess around flying anywhere at this stage now.

We're going to be up in Manchester Wednesday night so might as well head up there and then down to London, possibly Brighton after.

Any tips for places to stay/eat/things to do outside of Dishoom?

Can't you change your flights to Cyprus? Just need a negative COVID test. We're going on Friday

There are mail order "Fit to Fly" tests that you can do and send back and they will issue you a certificate to say if you are positive or negative for CV19

Yeah NHS test. Mrs is an essential worker so ticks that box. You can book them without symptoms on their (very shit) online system.

If you decide on Manchester:

Dinner:

mana (1st Michelin star in Manchester)
Erst
Umezushi for sushi (need to book)
Blue Eyed Panda for Chinese in Ancoats
Either Double Zero or Rudys for pizza
Sugo for the best pasta this side of Milan
Standard stuff but Hawksmoor for steak, Dishoom for Indian
El Gato Negro for tapas
Refuge
Bistrotheque

Coffee:

Siop Shop (donuts too)
Idle Hands Coffee
Pollen

Thought it'd got to be the proper PCR antigen test, not the NHS one? Either way, it was a package we did with TUI, we'd already been burned on one holiday to the US and TUI were offering straight money back if you booked so was worth the chance. Just going to write this year off, do 10 nights out in cities and eat some decent food.

Found out just the other day that this place has closed down. A shame, it was possibly the best restaurant in Manchester.

Just looking into this and getting conflicting answers on different websites. Anyone got a clear guideline on what test is required, how soon before flying you need to have it, and where to get it?

Was meant to be going to Zante on 19th September, but now looking at going to Cyprus.

https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/cyprus/entry-requirements doesn't clarify which kind of test you need but it is 72 hours before.

This is useful. It says it's most likely the PCR one and gives you a link to the company they're using to do it, when it needs doing etc.

I have family who have flown to Cyprus this week and used the NHS test. You need to upload the negative result on the Cyprus Flight Pass website before you get to your UK airport.

More info https://www.tui.co.uk/destinations/info/testing-requirements?vlid=TMTCVD2020

Really good process. They’ve nailed it. 2.5 cases per 100,000. Best in EU by a country mile.

Fancy doing the amalfi coast, pompeii and probably a few nights on capri. Flying in and out of maples. Is it best to hire a car to see the amalfi coast and then can anyone suggest itinery for the area. I've got a week in mind but could push to 9-10 days if needed. Cheers in advance.
