You might appreciate this Fudge: I got my second dose of the Moderna vaccine back in May. In fact, I got two and a half doses due to a fuck up when the clinician was giving me my second dose. Halfway through the vial broke off from the needle and half of it went running down my arm, so they popped another full vial in me for good measure. Fortunately for the cunts in line behind me vaccine supply wasn't an issue then.

Since then I've only been in crowds twice. The second time was to watch the Euro final last Sunday and I ended up testing positive for Covid yesterday. I lost my sense of smell and taste and have cold symptoms. Self isolating for 10 days in the height of summer.. peak times as our kid swede might say.

Missus is flying out to Taiwan next Saturday and requires a pre-departure PCR test, for those that have travelled and needed one where did you get yours done and any tips?

Also she’ll be flying from Heathrow, guessing most of the delays experienced by travellers is by those returning, or is outbound affected too? Trying to figure out if 2-2.5 hours arrival at the airport before departure time is sufficient.

I can tell you to not go to The London General Practice at 114a Harley Street,
Had three tests and only received the results for 1. And on the 1 certificate I received they spelt my name wrong.
£160 a test too.

That green list update was rather depressing.

We are getting married next week, wanted to see where was added for a last min trip somewhere hot! Haven't had our 2nd jabs yet so amber list is a no go. FFS!

@jacko check Reddit.com/r/getjabbed for details on places doing 2nd jab walk ins before the 8 week gap is up… my sis went and got a 2nd jab 4 weeks after her first through a walk in centre in tower hamlets

Could go Croatia though?

I tried that and was told I was too early and there has to me a minimum 49 day gap. I'm getting it done next Saturday so it's bother really but maybe check to save a journey. You can also try bringing it forward.

We have decided we are going to book two weeks in Croatia leaving at the end of the month.

Any recommendations for the best areas?

I’ve been to Hvar before on a stag do and it was great.

Yeah some places are asking for 49 day, others (although not advertised) are asking for 28 days. It depends on how much vaccine stock they have and how close to expiration it is

We've decided the same can't decide where in Croatia though. We're gonna leave it till 3 days before we go as that'll be when the next announcement is. proper ballache but i aint complaining, if you wanna go away this is the shit you're gonna have to deal with now.

We are exactly the same. We have both accumulated so much time off at work we have just booked off 3 whole weeks to be flexible with travel dates.

Even if they update it from green to Amber on the next announcement we are both double jabbed so it doesn’t make too much of a difference.

I’ll just leave this here.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/08/06/covid-used-excuse-stop-cheap-travel/

‘ Already, powerful government advisers have mass travel in their sights as they ponder how Britain can meet the government’s legally binding target of reducing carbon emissions to net zero by 2050. For them, Covid restrictions have been a dry run for how our lifestyles might be curtailed in future for the good of the planet.

Yes, that would mean turning the clock back to the era when travel was so complicated and expensive that only the most dedicated and economically blessed among us would consider getting away. And as the numbers of putative passengers to Spain, say, fell, then there would be fewer flights, and those would be offered at higher prices. Throw in testing that costs as much as the holiday itself and suddenly, the sort of ordinary Brit who has come to depend on their annual dose of vitamin D wouldn’t be able to afford it anyway.’

Oh and to Sholto’s original reply….. what bloody economy?? It’s done and dusted. All over bar the shouting.

Just wait for the furlough to ‘officially’ end (if it ever does, or will it morph into some form of Universal Basic Income..) and then let’s see the fallout.

Big high street names are closed, the airline industry is on its knees, local bank branches are closing.

Do you live with your head permanently in the sand?

Split is lovely. The whole place is set in the remnants of Diocletian’s Palace. Beautiful place. Beaches nearby also. Plus some filming locations for Game Of Thrones if you’re into that.

Had some amazing Peruvian/Bolivian food at ‘To Je Tako’ in the walls of the palace. Still remember how good it was.
Would definitely recommend over Dubrovnik.
