Any suggestions on what to see/where to go (my budget is pretty tiny so the cheaper the better)

ta

there are a lot of memorials to see all within walking distance around the centre. can be done in an afternoon. they are very nicely done (if that's the right way to put it) and thought-provoking. can't remember all the names as I was suffering from a huge hangover due to bars being open till virtually the last person leaves but there is the Holocaust memorial, parts of the wall inc. Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg gate and the Reichstag. I think any tourist website should give you the details. it's an amazing city

just got back from berlin, theres absolutely loads to do.. amazing city. nightlife is fantastic aswell, really cool places to go but can be hard to find as theres no real centre to the city due to the obvious history of it.

the communication tower is good to go to, 9.50 euro to go up and gives you great view of city on a clear day, theres memorials all over, my favourite i the holocaust memorial next to the brandenburg gate which is free and has musuem beneath it, the reichstag is free and the jewish museum is cheap as chips to visit, 3 euro or something and thats right near checkpoint charlie (which is quite commercial and crap). architecture is brilliant, jus walking around is enjoyable and topper graffiti everywhere if your into that. use the metro/tube as its fairly easy to figure out and relatively cheap. wouldnt recommend jumpin it as the conductors work on commission so the 'im english and didnt understand' dosen't usually get you out of the fine.

Which area are you going to be working in? Need to be on a Metro line?

If neither of those matter, Le Marais is a lively up-and-coming area close to the Bastille.

Around Place Vendome is probably more up your street though - upmarket area where a lot of the boutiques are. http://www.hoteldevendome.com

This is the topper of topper hotels at the moment http://www.everland.ch/

Just shout if you want any more help - got back from Paris on Sunday

It's a good area, plenty of bars and restaurants around there. It's the traditional gay / creative industries area so there is a lot going on (no homo).

Actually cheaper than this, i got it wrong, 288gbp.

I booked it but it's still 'on request' i think they fucked the price and because it's code share some of the way BA wont issue it to AA. Who knows. fingers crossed.

A few photos from our holiday a couple of weeks ago.

We flew to Nice and stayed there for a few days. It was about 20 degrees and the sea was warm enough to swim in.

As well as the port and beach areas of Nice there is also an old town which really shows its Italian influence in its narrow streets.

The women of Nice like a Willy bag over their shoulder.

In the centre of Nice is a big open square. Originally a cathedral was planned for here in the 19th century, but no decision was reached and it has been left open ever since. It now has sculptures and a fountain.

From Nice we went to Monaco for afternoon tea. Monaco was a bit of a disappointment really - it felt very cramped and was really busy. But there were some very nice bits.

We also went to Cannes one evening. Didn't see the beach but we climbed the hill to the castle.

From Nice we moved to Marseille for one night. We weren't particularly impressed by Marseille - I knew it was a working port rather than a tourist destination. When we went up to the fort overlooking the harbour we discovered that it really wasn't a tourist attraction - it was occupied by French soldiers Laughing out loud

There were good views from the outside of it though.

On another hill is Notre-Dame de la Garde. The views from this (much bigger) hill were great.

We stayed in Lyon for one night. I don't really have much to say about Lyon because we spent most of the day in a shopping centre Cry Laughing out loud Then we crossed the border into Switzerland to stay in Bern for a couple of nights. Bern is really picturesque, and incredibly expensive.

Interesting antique shops in Bern.

Paul Klee museum.

Dick - the gentleman's outfitters of choice for the discerning man about Bern

Statue to St. Keith, the patron saint of animal blowjobs.

Then we took the TGV to Paris where we stayed for a week (I had a trade show there). The first day we went up in a hot air balloon which gave us great views over the city.

Then we went to have a look at the Arab Institute which has windows with camera shutter mechanisms.

And then to Notre Dame.

That night we went to the Pompidou Centre and then up the Eiffel Tower.

The next day we went to the palace of Versailles, where the Jeff Koons exhibition was still on. Which was quite surreal (but cool) given the setting.

The day after we went to La Défense and then the Louvre.

The rammy to see the Mona Lisa.

Venus de Milo

Reacharound

"Like a baby's arm"

Winged Victory of Samothrace

Sculpture of a reclining woman

Hang on………

The trade show awards ceremony was in an aquarium which was quite a cool location.

Watery tarts at the trade show
