misled youth wrote: great photos Andy! some amazing looking places (they have a similar crossing countdown on Argyll Street by the way)

yeah several people have told me this since I got back, although apparently those ones count the seconds until you can cross, the St Petersburg ones tell you how many seconds you've got left to cross the road so you can judge whether you need to leg it or not

did you go to any clubs when over? always heard great things about those being really decadent

I didn't, no. didn't go to any pubs either! the only alcohol I drank while there was Pimms Laughing out loud

the nightlife is supposed to be very good though - this quote from the Rough Guide amused me:

"Vodka and a rampant sex industry make Moscow one of the most hedonistic cities on earth"

definitely, we spent a handful of very lazy days seeing pretty much all I wanted to see in Moscow. still want to see the Lubyanka building and Gorky Park, and a few of the more ornate metro stations, but you could easily do the "big stuff" in 4 days. the must sees (in my opinion) are

St Basil's Cathedral
Red Square
the Kremlin
Gum (the department store)

and handily they are all next to each other Laughing out loud

Just standing in red square is joy enough. The history is incrediable.

Just a few years before tanks and nukes were rolling down the same grooves you can stroll in before shopping in louis vitton on the corner of GUM.

Went to a couple of shops last night… down Haji lane, it was pretty late, around 9 so most shops were closed.

stocks Upper playground on the groundfloor… but upstairs, CDG play, Undercover, Headporter, Hare, Ksubi etc.

You can probably just about make out what it stocks on the window.

Then for some food!

We had a couple more dishes and drinks, but the whole thing came to like less than £20 for 6 of us.

Went to a Jazz club later on near Haji lane called the Blue Jazz

after that we took a stroll by a new design college called Le seul (can't remember the spelling). The architecture is AMAZING.

will go back another time to take some better photos.

Then we went for some pool at like 2am in the morning…

followed by a few games of photohunt.

Didn't get in till like 4am.
