True - but I think they own 100% of this now… completely out of Fourmarketings hands by the look of things.

That looks absolutely shit. What is the point of acquiring a brand and then changing everything they carry? You'll just end up alienating the original customers. Can see that they have dropped Kapital, which is unsurprising.

As I was typing I was thinking about the retail part. Especially the Kings Cross spot. To be fair Four Marketing made a bit of a name for themselves by investing in failing niche businesses. Just becomes a bit shit when it is all one company, a la JD. Can be good for discounts, but just a bit soulless. I feel like END become that a while back; they try the content part for example with blog posts etc. but is a bit superficial. A lot to be said for how MATCHES and Mr P do things on that front, but I guess they have deeper pockets for that sort of stuff?

They pretty much get a cheque book from SD to go out and take sinking ships on, Penfied, Albam, Agent Provacteur, Oki-Ni (buying it back). The whole business is backed up by their mens wholesale anyway so why not take a punt on strong brands that need restructuring which you can acquire at little to no cost.

Learning that Albam is owned by SportsDirect is strangely depressing

I did ask on another thread how Albam was still around. So won't be long before Cashley buys Folk and YMC.

Pretty sure Folk and YMC are part of FourMarketing, so he's already got part ownership if true.

So what true indie brands/shops are really left now?

Didn't JD buy Maharishi?

Folk was associated for a while but now indie again

Maharishi also had a JD deal but it fell through

YMC has been part of French Connection since early 2000's. Think theres a family connection to Stephen Marks.
