i've found OL outwear to be pretty tts and they're good with covering sizes (xs-xl). i'm quite slim and took a small in the parka (i take a small in their shirts too) and i often wear it with shirt/jumper or shirt/overshirt. fit is really pretty good / comfy and you can adjust the fit of the waist and the bottom hem. the only thing i'd say is that it's not overly roomy in the shoulders, so depending on your size and the weight of what you're wearing underneath it can get a little restricted. but no biggie. the medium might have been a little better in the shoulders but the proportions would be out everywhere else. beautifully made and the kind of jacket that looks better a year after you bought it than when you got it out the box.
Are the current 1950s shirts much bigger than the 40s? I'm usually a small and had a bit of a nightmare with a 1950s last spring, but tried a 40s on in Oi Polloi the other week and it was perfect. To confuse things further, TBS say the 50s is a slimmer style of shirt for OL, but End still say it's a larger fit (possibly using outdated measurements). After that barn melange 50s shirt, but haven't seen it in XS from any UK stores.
All my 50s Shirts (all from SS12) have a measurement of ~20,5" (Size Small) and the 40s I own are all ~21" and all in all a little bit boxier and shorter.
Don't know but a X-Small may would have a too small collar. Atleast a friend of mine has to buy X-Small and there is absolutely no chance to close the collar. That is something I dislike about their shirts. The collar is unproportional small compared to the rest of the shirt.
