make a selection select>colour range>shadows fill your selection (on a new layer) then tidy it with a vector path, or draw round it (if your using a graphic tablet)

True. You can do a lot with CS2.

Or using PS filters, then sending it through CS2. You can do intricate wall sized stencils like this, if care is taken. Masking film will give the sharpest result, but I like the bits where the paint bleeds under, so I just dampen the printer paper or use a little spray mount….

Copy and paste it. Either select it with the square selector if the bg is transparent (and everything you dont wanna be selected is transparent. Or use the magic wand tool too select the bits you want

double click the layer or click the padlock at the top of the layers window to unlock it, why is it locked anyway?

you're using the move tool, click on the select tool next to it and you'll be able to right-click the selected bits

cant be arsed with it anymore tonight, ive got a few weeks to play around with it, few questions for the headz though, i have my 3 seperate layers, how do i change the colours of them? and how do i make the lines look smoother, like in mases, is it something to do with making a path around the layer?

Layer>layer style>colour fill

you'll want to do a vector path around your selections to tidy them up

ive got my 3 layers now, know how to change the colours, not sure how to do vector path, i tried make new path i played around with the tolereance but it looked a bit shit, not stylised like the stencil of that bird you did mase, think its because ive got the wrong bits selected or something, i went to select>colour range>sampled colours and it left marks where id selected it, not sure how to just select the bits i want, like the shadows
