it's not a quality thing since non-selvedge denim can be of equal quality as selvedge.

I wear turn ups on pretty much all my trousers and jeans, it's just somehting that I think looks better, even if it's a tiny turn up. Only have one pair of non-selvedge jeans and they've got a really neat finish to them (unlike that pic posted) so they get a small turn up too.

No the colour on the outseam is just from the overlocking (stitching)
