everyone was too large a generalisation. to clarify, most people who go straight into full streetwear brands becasue they don't know any better usually transition like this.

Best wrote: i was thinking earlier this week that street and headz fashion is the easiest 'fashion' to pull off. I know there are the diehards who take it a step further, calm down milspex, but its components are simple - jeans, trainers, tees, sweats and jackets.

Its fashion by numbers, anyone with £250 can pull of a head(z) to toe e-credible look without fuss, trainers by nike £50, LVC jeans £80, supreme tee £30, supreme sweat £90 and bang easy no fuss brand harmonious street wear pulled off - obviously there are other elements like the fit of the garments and how they are worn but passed that its simple.

Im so over the whole headz thing and im beginning to fall out of love with streetwear which will be weird as i've been dressing in this style for the last 5 or 6 years since i was 16/17, but its just not exciting to me any more, im still going to keep a few key items by supreme and nike which i will always love but other than that im over it - fuck knows what im going to do now

Its so easy and obvious and thats why its popular - oh he wears supreme he's cool, wow look at those trainers, hella sick fades on those jeans etc etc. You check hypebeast look at the forums and see what you should buy, you queue up, buy from ebay or your local rape hq. Its all brain washing, no-one gives a shit, its a constant search for cool and the next big thing, no girls like it either

….im out

thats a very simple way of looking at it tbh.

let me point out that most of these streetwear brands were started out of necessity. supreme being a case in point. kids were wearing shit quality clothing when skating, so someone decided to make some quality stuff for 'em.

so because of necessity most of the products that come out of streetwear will always be basic. from the coach jacket to the chino. it's all basic stuff.

reason being streetwear isn't 'fashion'. it's not about exploring the limits and reemits of design etc. it's just about making stuff you'd want but can't buy, simple as that.

PLUS a big part of streetwear has always been about the personalities and lifestyles of some of these brands. that's what makes the stuff 'pop'. most high-end fashion labels have realised this too.

oh and 'fashionable' looks can be as easily created if you have the funds. but STYLE isn't about money. if it was then MOST people would be well dressed and that certainly isn't the case. plus no-one wants to look like a walking look book.

and on the social tip…

lets not sugar coat it, streetwear clothing isn't about impressing women, never has, never will be.

it's about the select few that get it. so whether that includes women or not is neither here or there.

and the only people that get boners off someone wearing a pair of supreme dunks are lil' kids. most people couldn't give a shit. so you shouldn't either. just wear what you like and wear it properly.

poohat wrote: Buying expensive stuff for real-world recognition doesnt really work after a point. As you said, only people who really follow fashion will notice that it isnt cheap, assuming it doesnt have branding all over it. And most real world people (including girls) have fairly boring/conventional tastes in menswear anyway.

Fuck you`re an idiot. Who the fuck cares what bitches think? Do you let girls pick out clothes for you like your Mum? A real man dresses for himself and his self satisfaction.

but its nearly impossible to do, cos being into fashion is about the buzz you get when you buy stuff, so nearly all of us just buy loads of cheaper items, hence the popularity of uniqlo, aa, apc and nike etc etc, also you dont get no recognition from the net or the real world in a plain long sleeve tee by mcqueen that costs 500 quid, cos only you know what it is, its beauty is in its subtleness, but subtleness never got anyone a bunk up im afraid.

Personally I don`t give a shit if no one knows the brands of my A2, vintage jeans, chukka boots, necklace or watch. They are all expensive items I`ve bought up in the last 3 years that I plan on using until I`m dead. Beautiful items get better with age and you grow to appreciate and love them more and more, you don`t
get sick of them. I am in love with a lot of my stuff. But a lot of the cheaper stuff will wear out. Thats why I`ve started to invest in stuff that gets better with age (jeans, leather, boots, rolex).

tons of high end timeless stuff > some high end timeless stuff > tons of cheap stuff

learn this, it will serve you well in the long term.

you see. This is what I`m talking about. To women Seenmy prolly looks like a fisherman here and the frog from Paris would get more pussy (or cock by the looks). But does Seenmy give a fuck? NO. Because he knows he`s cool as fuck and bitches don`t know shit. He dresses for his own satisfaction and comes out looking dope. Doper than another dumb faggot in a leather jacket and skinnies.

thats what I said you lunatic

Although I dont believe you anyway, if you were really dressing for yourself then you wouldnt be so obsessive compulsive about the brands that youre wearing and the messages they sent out to those in the know - youd just wear stuff that you thought looked good.

If you can achieve the right balance between wearing what you like, and also being seen by the general public to look well dressed then you've cracked it. I kow a lot fo fukers will say they dont give a fuck what the genral public think, but no one would deny getting told your clothes look good is a nice feeling.

Avoid the polar opposites of guys in Henleys getting loads of slags but wearing shite clothes, and guys like milspex getting no girls at all, but feeling they wear the best gear. Find a balance.
