S-Town is a new podcast from Serial and This American Life, hosted by Brian Reed, about a man named John who despises his Alabama town and decides to do something about it. He asks Brian to investigate the son of a wealthy family who’s allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But then someone else ends up dead, and the search for the truth leads to a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man’s life.

Brian, a longtime This American Life producer, started reporting this story more than three years ago, when he got an email from John with the subject line “John B McLemore lives in Shittown Alabama.”

yeah after you subscribe, go to the settings button of that podcast, and switch the 'download episodes' toggle thing to off.

The Butterfly Effect with Jon Ronson. Tracking the adverse effects the rise of free porn sites has had on industry. Enjoyable and informative with some funny, bizarre and dark moments.

Caliphate . A female journalist takes a deep dive into Isis, she even gets a returning Canadian jihadi to tell her what he got upto inside the caliphate, then she goes into Mosul the second the battle is over, stepping over dead terroists to get at isis's paper trail, there level of organisation is truly impressive, they even had their own weapons manafacturing company, finally she comes across the brutal reality of the Yazidi women/children used as sex slaves as they are repatriated with their communities, there was more knowledge here than a joint Sam Harris and Majidd Nawaz podcast.

Yeah I really enjoyed that but her voice was unbearable sometimes. I genuinely cannot stand that US journalist style voice !

Anyone listened to anything else decent recently ?

Advance After Combat. Americans bragging about how drunk they get when they play Advanced Squad Leader and other hex based wargames. GREAT stuff.

There's a few people on here that seem to like s-Town. If that's the case try Tanis. It's been going a few years now but totally compelling. a docu-fiction about a journalist/podcaster looking into the 'myth of Tanis'.
