JustinCredible wrote: Facebook news feed lately has been a target rich environment for pulling up my idiotic pals who are sharing political fake news, for example last night a pal kicking off sharing an image saying something along the lines of "omg Macron just been on live TV in Europe saying if UK don't leave the EU without a deal they will have to pay 50 billion pounds, accept to take 300,000 immigrants per year and adopt the Euro". I genuinely think he is stupid enough to believe this actually happened, perpetuating the myth and reinforcing his/his friends views.
Then the Greta Thunberg speech has triggered the same people which got me thinking it's interesting how people from different generations / demographics / regions of the country do seem to have most of the below in common, and preach on Facebook with such passion & vitriol (with scant regard for the truth) that it's no wonder the idiots are winning.
Generalising somewhat but the general narrative they (mostly) have in common is along the lines of:
- Despise the EU
- Support a no deal Brexit
- Make Britain great again
- Love a bit of Boris / Rees-Mogg
- Jeremy Corbyn is a traitor (IRA)
- Support Trump
- Strongly against immigration in any form
- Climate change is a lie
- Gender fluidity is a myth
- Blame the EU / immigrants / people on welfare for the fact schools / NHS / Police are on the bones of their arse
- Love sharing absolute bants from Ladbible / On the tools / etc. etc.
Fudge/Milspex Have I missed any?
Will need to clarify this post.
Firstly I’ve never been on Facebook as I saw it for what it would end up being when it first came out.
Second of all, the Thunberg speech wasn’t ‘triggering’ at all. I just don’t believe she should be on the worlds stage and be put under the intense microscope of the worlds media.
And going through your little list, let’s make a few things clear. No one ‘despised’ the EU before the referendum. It’s since the result that people are seeing just how undemocratic and far reaching their policies are and have been for many years, as well as how damaging for our economy.
As for Jeremy Corbyn - well he’s friends with any despot or enemy of the UK or USA, that’s clear enough.
Supporting Trump - well that goes hand in hand with the first point. People see Trump as one of the few voices against the groupthink that has been allowed to fester and grow in the heart of our institutions.
Against immigration? I’ve never been against immigration - I would say we need fair immigration in and out of this country. My parents were immigrants. Legal ones. They didn’t flout the law and didn’t live alternative lives when they came here. They assimilated.
Climate change - please use the original terms of global warming and global cooling, why don’t you? Because the terms changed with the facts. I went from one country to another and ‘climate change’ took place. Of course the climate changes. But do I believe that man made climate change is real and we can do ANYTHING to realistically impact it? No.
Gender fluidity? Fuck, I won’t even go there.
And talking about immigration again. You know what would be bad for the environment? Millions of people going from undeveloped countries to developed ones. Because we’d have to cater for all those people wouldn’t we? Why is the left so pro open borders? People coming from low ‘carbon footprint’ countries to ones with larger ones? To create more congestion? So why doesn’t Thunberg stand up and tell the world we need to reduce global immigration as its hurting the environment?
And simple math doesn’t lie - if 300k more people enter this country every year (net) then that creates a larger demand on hospitals and schools. If you don’t agree with that, then you’re the blind one, not me.
And I’ve never been on ladbible.
You need to read Le Camp des Saints by Raspail.
