misled youth wrote: argh wrote more to that post but it's vanished. anyway IMO war wasn't necessary. there were NO wmd's. yes he was a cunt but a lot of countries are run by cunts. Oil is gonna run out one day. do you want them to destroy Alaska to get to the last few drops? and the vast majority of scientists all seem to agree that global warming isn't "a load of tosh". what makes you think that?

in the past 5 or so years we have found out that we actually have a lot more oil than we think, 20 years ago we thought we had about 50 years worth left, now we think we have 2 or 3 HUNDRED years worth, i think this is only going to carry on, and more and more will be discovered before we find a way around it, as humans thats what we are good for

and not all scientists agree on global warming, in fact quite a few refute it, every 500 years we go in and out of mini ice ages, currently we re coming out of one, thus temperature increases. and even if there is global warming due to us not a single scientist could definitively tell us what is going to happen because of it, and thats a fact.

And without googling it, tell me what is going to cause sea levels to rise, because i bet most people on here have no idea

you have high hopes for the human race! I said the vast majority of scientists agree on global warming. I'm not surprised they can't tell us what will happen. things are changing so fast and they don't exactly have any past situations to base it on. i would love to think they were all wrong. I'm def no expert and would guess that water levels would rise due to melting glaciers but i presume you are going to tell me that is wrong (i never challenged you on your sea levels comment so am not sure why you have brought that up)

oh no fair enough you didnt

and humans have always solved our own problems, we invented antibiotics to stop people dying, we invented HYV's when famine seemed imminent

humans will always adapt and i believe that, therefore we may fuck up our planet but if we do we will find a way to fix it (im no maltheusain)

Unfortunately nowadays media politics have replaced substance. It's true about Cameron though. I don't know what he stands for. Does anybody know?

As for Labour/Blair/Brown bashers: minimum wage, 10 years of sustained economic growth, low unemployment, the banking crisis wasn't the government's fault. People get upset when they feel the hand of government is controlling an aspect of their life but complain when they won't come in and rescue their postal savings account.

And the MPs expenses knowledge. It was a slow news fortnight so it was really hammed up. Sandi Thom (shit singer/aspiring musician) thinks MPs should have their salaries suspended. Girl knows nowt about the good work MPs do even when their skimming tax money for 2nd mortgages. They need a pay rise in my opinion to stop the culture of claiming for inappropriate expenses.

I'd love to see a move towards political thinking from the enlightenment being applied to the modern world. Would result in much fairer and caring society.

MP expenses scandal showed that they are all scumbags. How many supposedly intelligent people are in parliment and not one person from any party took a second to think maybe this isn't right? They are all pigs with their heads so far in the trough they couldn't see a true political calling if it smacked them in the face.

Brown - probably an intelligent guy who has made himself look pathetic with his attempts at public adulation
Cameron - used to consider myself a conservative, but how long has this guy been in the hot seat and I haven't got a clue what he or the party represents
Obama - Is beginnning to realise that as President he can't deliver some of his naive promises

I'll probably vote for whoever lowers my taxes most, I don't trust any of them to take our country forward tho

Cameron (based on his quoted beliefs before leadership) is socially more liberal that the core Tory membership will allow him to be and economically far more liberal than any sensible election manifesto would allow (having been quoted as being a supporter of small government and a single rate flat tax). Therein lies the conundrum.

Whatever, any fukers in Brighton Pavilion should vote Green just for the sake of them getting their first seat in Parliament. Being in Hove we're pretty much destined to turn Tory next year though.

http://atonesdiscretion.blogspot.com/

do you seriously believe this was the reason? It's an incredibly poor argument IMO. have a look at how many countries have attempted some form of ethnic cleansing over the last half century and how many "dictators" there are in power at present.
