Designed and made a desk for my girlfriend to use in our spare room. Base and legs of the table constructed from 25mm birch ply. Top is 19mm Moranti veneered MDF that I stained walnut and finished with danish oil. Progress photos below. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

Gluing and clamping up the mitred ply legs that were originally biscuit jointed

More clamping

Corner braces to make the frame more stable and to connect the top

Legs glued up

Legs screwed on

Edge banded the MDF, trimmed it all up. Sanded the veneer lightly ready for staining

Top following 2 coats of walnut stain

The finished desk with 3 coats of danish oil on the top

Legs varnished to stop the exposed ply edges splintering

sym this is Ubercool the mitred legs and the veneer work looks spot on, would love to find more time for these kind of projects. Got the tools and equipment, just never get round to actually creating my ideas! How much did the material cost you in total (if you don't mind me asking) ?

The MDF was an off-cut i purchased from Blumsons in Dagenham and was a tenner.

The ply was off-cuts from something else I'm making at the moment, but if you paid for them probably about £25.

Add the danish oil, wood stain and varnish…no more than £40 for the whole thing. Loads of brownie points as wellEye-wink

Love this thread, really impressed with what people are doing.
Rea your poetry and enjoyed it Owlix (and I'm not normally much of a one for poetry), loving Canhoto's art too.
SYM that is seriously good work, delicate touch for a big grappler.

Made a sculpture for a client that runs a burger event. 6 chefs battle it out to win my prize. Designed the voting sticker and the voting cards also.

Intended to post my portfolio when first joining, but got lazy and didn't update it with anything worth showing (queue DY saying i still haven't Laughing out loud )
After about a year of not designing anything outside of work I've started to do some more work in my own time, so needed to display what I
already had and what is to come. Few things to tweak/improve but for now this will do.
