That Man Utd team that won a couple of league titles after Ronaldo left wouldn't come close this season. Fergusson kept a pretty average team ticking over and had em playing well enough to see off the one challenger they had in each of those seasons

Totally different now with City and Chelsea stronger and both with a measure of stability and Liverpool and Arsenal improved. Not to mention Everton and Spurs

Should have signed some players throughout the spine who'd be coming into their peak now to keep them up there with City and Chelsea rather then RvP to make sure he got one over on City in his last year

To be fair they absolutely romped it in Fergie's last season, you can't put that massive void in points and places purely down to a few senior figures getting a year older.

No they had no real competition that last year.

City - bought badly and players hated Mancini
Chelsea - Di matteo/Benitez. Drogba gone, Torres leading the line, never in the mix
Liverpool - Brentan's first season, poor summer window
Arsenal - Same old same old, had just lost their best players, and always 2-3 away from the squad depth needed

And if Fergie had the money that Moyes and Van Gaal had he'd be challenging for the league.

PL is average now, look at how City and Arsenal do in the champions league compared to United, Chelsea and RafaPool a few years ago. It's only Barca that stopped English teams dominating.
