4 defeats in a row Sad That could so easily have been united, were it not for bad refereeing and just over £18million difference between the two six-yard boxes.

Great win for Villa. Sherwood has us playing some really good stuff. Cleverley was motm today although Grealish was awarded it. 4/5 big players for us now, which is really pushing us on. Confident we are safe, although, it would be nice to wrap it up v Southampton next week in the early kick off.

How would you feel about Warburton/Paul Clement taking over if and when you go down?

Out of contract anyway at end of season so will be fucking off surely?

Clement will be a great appointment for any team imo, would be surprised if a Prem club didn't get in for him though.

Michael Oliver couldn't have seen what part of Danns body the ball hit first because his view is hidden from him as he is twisting his body as the contact is made. The replay showed it was unclear. Was it bicep? Chest then bicep? Looked top of shoulder to me if I'm honest. He "guessed" it was a pen. Then second half we have Puncheons standing leg being swept right under his nose and it's as clear as could be, but not given.

Some so-called pundits said Punch made the most of the tackle in the box so it shouldn't be a penalty. The same pundits that called Hazard clever for putting himself in a dangerous position for the pen he won last week.

Alan Pardew "I mentioned the Puncheon incident to the ref. If you're going to give the first one, then the second is a penalty."

Amen to that.

They've been awful. Might as well not bother coming out second half.

Mata stood on Puncheon's toe. And if you get the penalty then chances are you don't get the FK that he scored straight after, so swings and roundabouts.
Dann's body movement was always lowering himself towards the ball, and if you are doing that with your arm leading then you're bound to look suspicious. Oliver called it, and got it right, so I don't see the reason to lambast yet another referee for making a correct decision. If he'd given a penalty but it had hit Dann's shoulder then fair enough…it didn't, so move on.

I am moving on. Someone just asked me the question so I answered it. It's all IMO of course. No way Michael Oliver saw the movement of the ball as it struck Dann from his position. He 'guessed' it.(with a little added pressure from United players screaming in his ear to give it of course).

Punch's was still a stonewall pen for me. If it wasn't then he should have booked him for diving, so he's made a mistake either way. Fair enough shout on the freekick.

The point of contact is still pretty inconclusive even with a freeeze frame IMO

Then why the finger wagging from Dann straight after it and telling the ref he got it wrong at every opportunity of a break in play during the first half?

Edit:
I just had to watch it again cos you even got me doubting my own opinion. It comes off his upper pec near his shoulder, might have ricocheted onto his arm from there but inconclusive (although I can't see it). He's even pointing this out to the ref straight after (I only noticed the finger wagging yesterday).

Look at MIchael Oliver's position. How can he even give it??

Vid on here in good quality shows it clearly.
