yeah, downloading games through the store, or if your a playstation plus member the free game you get every month. So if youve only got discs then the 12gb is perfect, as larger models are silly expensive.

Found it, taken from another forum, posted Jan this year:
Sony will replace your broken PS3 with a reconditioned unit for £110. And if you've got the original model, they will replace it with a slim model if you'd prefer.
They will send out the replacement next day delivery, just call the UK Customer Services number. 0844 736 0595
One guy replied a couple of days later:
Just spoke to a very pleasant chap at Sony and ordered a replacement PS3. Cost £110 and it's a 120GB slimline model. They're apparently remanufactured not refurbished models, so I presume as new and have a 3 month warranty. They take your old console away, authenticate the serial no. and check the hard disk, then send the replacement.
A courier company pick up the old console (next day if you catch them early on a weekday) and you'll usually have a replacement in 3 days, although they do say 7 just in case there's any complications. The £110 includes the courier fees.
