How old are you gawk? If You don't mind me asking. I ask because my dad just hit 45 and sold pretty much 85% of his vinyl. For virtually peanuts. Reckon you'll ever rid it?

I was pretty lucky in that the diy hardcore scene was pretty much the first music scene I got into when I was 15/16 and bought vinyl pretty much from the off. Also being straightedge helped! Eye-wink

Going to that for Strange Places and Honour Among Thieves reunion. Leaving before Dead Swans like most times. Haven't been to the Garage since they did it up some years ago. I hope it's better than it was.

Still got loads of punk/hardcore/power violence tees to get rid of. Plus some pins and patches, if anyone is interested?

Found a stack of old zines the other day - some Fractures, HeartAttack, etc… always a good read and it was enjoyable reading old interviews with bands like Man is the Bastard…

I still very much see punk being my music of choice but haven't been keeping up with it for a good few years. Last kind of punk gig I went to was probably Doomsday Student (basically Arab On Radar) and it reminded me how that kind of stuff is much more exciting than most of the overhyped drivel. Cool

Any recommendations of anything new (and good) would be good.

In my opinion, UK punk/hardcore has turned incredibly stale over the last few years. The only new hardcore bands I've heard from the UK that I like are Outrage CC and Frustration. https://www.facebook.com/outragecc?ref=ts&fref;=ts https://www.facebook.com/frustrationhc?ref=ts&fref;=ts

If you still like the powerviolence thing then check these bands out(if you haven't already):

Hoax - link above
Crowd Control - https://soundcloud.com/modernbullshit/untitled
Disguise - https://www.facebook.com/disguisepunk?ref=ts&fref;=ts
Weekend Nachos - https://www.facebook.com/weekendxnachos?ref=ts&fref;=ts

I don't know the links for these bands, but try and find:

Mind Eraser
Iron Lung
Hatred Surge
Think I Care
Double Negative

The Dauntless Elite - The best punk band in the UK. https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Dauntless-Elite/156434637708802?ref=ts&fref;=ts

Let it die, razoreater, death tripper, mangle and toe cutter are all really good UK bands that I've seen lately.

I don't think a genre that prides itself on not moving forwards and staying 'true to your roots' can really get stale and bands come and go so quickly (with the few obvious exceptions) that there's always a new or exciting band to check out. I think the problem with the genre is that unless you're properly on the pulse, it's easy to lose track of what's going on and it's easy to get out of touch.

Up until a year ago, I was putting shows on regularly in the midlands and I still go to most London shows. I wouldn't say i'm out of touch. I just feel that the current crop of UKHC bands aren't even trying to do anything new and they're all ripping off the same styles. Lately it seems to be Cro-Mags and early 90's metalcore. Most of the good bands have split up and the nice people have left/only appear at reunion shows.

Their shows were pretty fun back when they were a little south coast thing, but like basically every band ever signed to TDON they turned to wank pretty fast.

UKHC these days is pretty much a bunch of dickhead scene nazis who seem to think the eastern seaboard is some kind of magical promised land.

Any London punk fans should go to this. The Dauntless Elite and The Down and Outs are two of the best punk bands in the country.

On a more positive note your powerviolence list was good, I was lucky enough to see Iron Lung in the flesh a few years ago and they were absolutely fucking insane.
