"The fur will be sold to fashion designers. It's estimated that over 50%of fur - even "faux" fur - used in the U.S. is actually dog fur, deliberately mislabeled for export overseas." Sick!

That winds me up so much - fair enough if it is part of culture etc but it is the way they go about killing them which brings a fucking lump in my throat.

Boiled to death, Tumble dried to death, bludgeoned to death - these people are fucking sick!!!

Disgraceful conditions and I wouldn't much want to eat dog but it doesn't seem that different to industrial farming of other animals all over the place really.

Not looked at the pics and I hope I never do. I honestly presumed the whole dog meat thing was just some sick exaggerated stereotype. Looked up stats, shocking how much is farmed and eaten.

That said I don't think it's really right for us to dictate what is wrong for foreigners to eat, the change should probably come from within. It would be like the Japanese saying it's wrong for us to hunt haggises.

I haven't got anything against people eating dogs, as it seems silly to dictate that killing and eating one animal is worse than another, but any kind of treatment like that is disgusting.

Fucking horrible photos. Once saw a video of one of these 'dog farms' skinning dogs alive…nasty

What was the purpose of skinning them alive?

Not entirely sure, was fucked up though. Watched it through my fingers, still not sure why I even bothered, curiosity prevailed i guess.

I can't read all the text on that piece, can't get it to scroll down but the figures are estimations. It kind of reads that all the 2.5 million dogs are treat this way which is probably not the case. I think these type of farms are illegal in South Korea and most are farmed/slaughtered in more humane ways. Still horrible for most westerners to think about but hey ho, look at the shark fin trade for something that is a true pisser and a complete waste of life.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat

apparently some think that hanging improves the flavour as skinning alive, which is thought to be an easier process to get the pelt off and in one piece. Pretty sure Peta say it helps keep the meat tender too.

There are a few Peta vids on the Chinese fur trade in cats and dogs that depict the same, easy to find, but they often blow over the wider facts.
