To me at least, it seems that the first article is written with a lean that suggests negligence on the part of NYPD, whereas the second one shows more support for the officers' actions. Crucially the second article makes mention of the guy mimicking the drawing of a gun.
As I say, I am not supporting the actions of the NYPD cops, they have a horrible track record (Diallo etc) in this area, just thought it was interesting.
