I know a Jew who stayed in Israel for a while this year, fucking hated it. Turkey on the other hand was apparently the best place on earth.

It depends where you go/stay, same as every other part of the world. Istanbul is amazing but you wouldn't want to live on the Turkish/Syrian border would you?
