I can see where you're coming from with the similarity between both pairs Noble and I have reservations myself (hence the 'Or are Moc's the way to go' comment). I prefer the plain look and thought that the 9111's had more sturdiness and presence about them than the Chukka's which feel kinda lightweight on so they'd probably look like a different shoe once worn in.
same shoe just a bit higher iirc.
the moc toes look so doooooope when worn in if thats your bag. you are making a mistake imho, do the moc toe and rawk alternatley with the chukkas and look like a man about town.

I have an old pair of those 9111s I've decided to actually start wearing, whats the best way to waterproof them, mink or boot oil? Do they actually look different? I dont really want them to go much darker.

get your normal size in moc toe and wear two pairs of socks, they arn't a warm pair of boots, and the soles are crap in this weather.

Agree with Carl, mink oil is good stuff.

Yeah, get a hot water and fairy washing liquid, let them dry and apply the mink oil

forgive my ignorance but wouldn't a detergent like that be bad for the leather?

i don't want to wash them i like the look of them, i'm pretty sure that would fuck the leather up

I'd just wipe them down with a damp cloth, allow to dry then put the mink oil on them.
