widest range was of adidas, but it did stocked all the majors too (Saucony, Asics, Brooks etc)

edit: apparently covent garden store has now closed and they've moved to new premises near Liverpool Street: http://simonfreeman.co.uk/2013/11/the-death-and-rebirth-of-the-london-marathon-store/

Is it this weekend ?

I did a negative split. 4 hours was my goal and made it inside that. 3.30 is going it. I did 22 miles 3 weeks before iirc and felt fine, then tapered and just did very small runs in the week before. Couldn't walk for a couple of days after, the extra few miles and pushing it to get in the time took its toll.

Yeah was this saturday, opened up slow at 5min/km pace as was hoping going that slow would allow me not hitting the wall at 30k and start increasing speed at 27-28km sprinting the last 5-7k. No such luck, legs went totally stiff at 30k so last 12k was a real pain. Looking back should just have gone for 4:45 first 30k and walked/jogged last 12k as should prob have hit the wall at 30k regardless as not really trained for this distance for more than just over a month. Finished just a bit over 3:30 so still pretty ok as it's only my second race ever, only ever done a 10k before.

Upside is I know running almost every day (mostly 10-15k, so no marathon distances) the muscle strength is there and recovery time is not an issue, just need to get the body used to longer distances, did a 10k this wednesday as a first run efter the marathon, still had some blood buildup under some toes that hurt like hell and stiff legs but managed sub44 taking it pretty easy and not being a sprinter thats ok for me. Hopefully some more focused training on longer distances will get me down to 3:15-ish for marathon efforts 2014.

How long should I put up with shin splints for before changing shoes? Running 5k (increasing x .5) twice a week at the moment.

Had gait analysis and I am neutral, got some Asics Gel Nimbus 8 that are hardly worn but I am not convinced they are right for me.

Going to run in flynit trainer+ tonight, nothing to lose and will look like a boss in my tights.

The camden store could not have been better with me, they spent 1hr plus in consultation, filmed me running then fitted me.
They then price matched any online price and i saved £40

Superb service

Both the nimbus and the flyknit trainer are neutral runners Ruben. Shin splints can be caused by a lot of different things not just shoes.

Stretching after a warm up and after a warm down helped my splints a great deal.

My legs were battered in the flyknits almost immediately, managed to just about get round 3 miles but was painful. I know there will be a transistion period between shoes but I am fairly certain the less is more approach isn't for me Laughing out loud

Will use my Lunarglide+ 3's next.

Yeah the flyknits give very minimal support, surprised they're giving you that much grief on such a small mileage though.

Are you warming up/down?

I used LG3s last winter and loved them. Great shoe to go to!

I do a bit of warming up and walk for a min or two as a warm down. Will target the shins as well now.

starting to work up to 10k which is my distance target, and I think will also hopefully help push on my 5k times as I'm stuck around 26.5min for a few weeks now, I think I need to up to 3 runs a week to start to get my 1k splits at 5 min and under which is what I want, starting to get pain in my achilies at the min, thinking I might need some more heel support than the fly frees I have been using.

The Free's really give no support whatsoever; terrible things to use for road running in my experience - at best they're good for the gym/treadmill.

Could try the Lunar Glide or Lunar Eclipse for better support if you're intent on sticking with Nike or a basic pair of Pegasus which are their staple tried 'n trusted running shoe (the Nike flash packs have some decent colourway's in all of the aforementioned).

I'm gonna stick with LG3's for a month and then consider Ghost 6 or something along those lines.
