chip time was 1:42 which is a long way off my PB (1:37) but I’ve been concentrating much more on weights than cardio for past 12 months so was happy enough

was hoping for sub 1:40 but lost quite a bit of time over the first couple of miles as I left it late to line up and got stuck quite far back in the starting pens then tired myself out trying to weave through the crowds

how did you get on?

Great time, well done! I managed to get it done in 1 hour 47 mins, considering its my first half marathon i'm pretty happy with that

Yea, i almost got stuck at the start also, had to literally run out of the park and jump over the barriers to get to the 1:45 pacer

toocan - I'd go with the Nike tights & shorts and the Adi vest. Personally don't like compression socks (Be a pain to wear alongside tights also) and go for ankle running ones instead. Nike ones are decent, as are the 1000mile ones.

+1 on compression socks, big hoax. I do sockless all summer, 1000 mile ones for running in snow.
All you really need for around the year running is a pair of shorts (preferably inov-8 or something with built in tights to avoid groin junk on longer runs) a pair of reg tights, some kind of hi-tech tee and a wind jacket. Should cover you all year round.. Maybe a buff and gloves if you gonna run in -10C

cheers, congrats on your time too - very respectable effort - you'll definitely be able to knock a few minutes off that when you're more used to the distance

I see London Marathon ballot results out from today. anyone been lucky?

feels like waiting for exam results or something Sad Laughing out loud

Got the new nike Pegasus 32 today after doing 500miles on the Pegasus 31, can't recommend them enough should anyone be in the market for a pair of cushioned runners, no pains or strains out of the ordinary for doing 30+miles a week with them.

I did the same switch after racking up 600+ in my 31's. Have been flying in them since. Think they're fav from peg 29-32 ranges.

Can anyone recommend some (short) socks for cold weather running?

I always seem to get chilblains (yes old man) when running in autumn and winter.

I just bought everything (except shoes which are asics) from Nike outlet store, everything seems to work ok and is warm/cool and comfortable, I don't think there is much point agonizing over what brand you buy, $100 shorts don't make you a better runner than $30 ones.

This legit? Does fake Gyakusou exist?

Size up one? End clothing suggests no, but don't trust their sizing/measurements

Ive started running for distance now as opposed to sprinting, which is what I usually do.
Im getting pain at the front of my shins, any ideas why?

Shin splints.
Probably upped mileage to quickly. Stick to 10% increase week on week

New Gwakusou up on End. Really like that Shield jacket but can't spend that kind of money on a running jacket.

Anyone own one of the standard shield jackets - recommend or not?
