highly recommend joinign a club whether as a social running thing or join an athletic club and doing some more competitive track type running

track sessioms will definitely get you faster
social running is much more pleasurable than solo

when my son is of an age that he is interested I will highly recommend it to him as a way to meet girls too, lots of ladies in lycra at the two i've been members of

Cheers guys, might as well give it a go and see who turns up…

Sounds a bit wanky, but want it to be more of a community than a club. I like the set up that Run Dem Crew (https://www.rundemcrew.com/) have set up. It'll definitely be more focussed on the community / improvement side, rather than for the hardcore. A place where people can get to know each other too. Longer term (when possible), organise talks on running, mental health, etc. Just need a sponsoring cafe.

I think it'll be tough at the beginning to set runs based on speed as turnout will be low, but eventually get to that place in the longer term.

Mainly just focussed on coming with a good name and printing some bangin tees Cool

BTW, exchanging emails with someone at un-sanctioned and they've kindly provided a 20% code. Their stuff is probably the best of the indy stuff I've seen (combo of form and function).

Looking into potentially setting one up in my area.

I joined Team Project Run a few weeks ago https://teamprojectrun.com/ specifically for the coaching, but the [online] community aspect of it was an expected bonus with runners of all ages & standards [although i'm probably about the oldest Laughing out loud ]

I'm hoping to see some improvements before year end on current 2020 PB's [5k 20:18, 10k 42:58, HM 1:36:16]

I'll post an update before end of year Cool

I’ve been getting some foot pain this week, it’s not completely debilitating but it’s sore. It’s along the bottom of my right foot as I bend it. Is the best thing just to lay off running for a few days?

Slowly been increasing distance and only really been running for the past 4 months. Been completely obsessed since I started, not much else to get excited about at the moment

Small margins at my age I guess but I’d be surprised if I didn’t get sub 1:35 for HM. For 5k I’d happily take a sub 20 mins just once !

I had this and it was Peroneal Tendonitis: https://footeducation.com/peroneal-tendonitis/

Did these exercises daily: https://www.summitmedicalgroup.com/media/db/relayhealth-images/xperonan_3.jpg

Took 3 weeks off, bought more supportive shoes - it's fine now!

Thanks for the reply, I'll have a look at the exercises. Not sure if the pain is more under the arch of my foot. Its definitely worst in the morning though. Im wearing fly knit react 2s at the moment which are comfortable guessing they have no support though. Any recommendations for shoes with decent support?

Ah sounds totally different to mine then, those exercises are specifically for what I had. Mine was near base of the foot but on the outside.

I had some old Nike Free shoes to start with, run in Nike Pegasus now which are a lot more stable if you want to stay with Nike.

Any recommendations on the cheapest GPS running watch available that's half decent? Want to get one for the old man.

Any fukers tried the Adi adios pros? They look great. My Nikes have lost their bounce and I’m not paying vaporfly money.

https://athleticsweekly.com/event-news/trail-track-kilian-jornet-24-hour-task-1039937596/

The record for the longest distance run on the track in 24 hours is 188.590 miles (303.506km) set by ultra running legend Yiannis Kouros in 1997. A feat described by Jornet as “absolutely wild”.

That sort of distance requires an average of 7:38 per mile (4:44 per kilometre). For 188 miles. Over 24 hours.

Jawdropping!
