20:18 is decent for 5k pops. I’ve not done any real running for a few years now but even when I was I wasn’t hitting that time

Start running a lot more, track the total distance you run in a week and focus on increasing this week on week. The 5k time will increase alongside it.
what about zoom fly 3?
Cheers for this, they’re what I’m replacing actually. I like them and might just get another pair at that price.
I had this problem initially and started tightening them further down the laces and it made a big difference and locked my heel in place properly. Before that they were all over the place but I do have weird shaped feet.

i'm not getting on with my zoom fly 3s, have to tie them too tight and always feel loike they are slipping off

Ran a little during the first lockdown, then in September started doing 5k 2-3 times a week. Got a PB this morning-22:07, down from 23:43 on my first attempt but fuck me I almost puked. Am pleased with my progress, but couldn’t imagine running fast enough to hit a sub 20. To be honest I can’t imagine myself going much faster than I have already but would like to hit under 22 before the end of the year. Any tips on what I should focus on to keep bringing it down or do I simply need to keep at it and it will naturally improve?
Could do a bit of Fartlek work concentrating on goal 5km pace for the time you’re working?
1km intervals, threshold runs could be beneficial
If you have access to a track hit that once a week reps of 400m etc will help.
1 longish run a week is a must depending on the level you’re at the now(I.e distance covered not in any means trying to be disrespectful)

Thanks ODB & Macca for the input. Pretty much only been doing 5k runs, but could start mixing up with a weekly longer run and hill sprints. How long should I aim for a longer run? 10k? Reckon I could manage that at a slower pace.
18:46 for 5k
That is insane, props for all the hard work that’s obviously gone into it!
