That’s what I’d do. I get a pretty snug fit but they are my most comfortable shoes. Possible an 11 would work if you want to wear thick boot socks.

I had a a pair done two years ago Swede in LA, the cobbler could only do natural colour crepe though as he mentioned there was no access to the black crepe. I asked a couple of cobblers in Paris recently could they do it and none of them wanted to touch. I'm back in Dublin next week and I'm going to check with a cobbler there, he did a crepe sole on a Goodyear welt for me a few years ago and I'll see if he can do CP's as I have a couple of pairs needing resoling.

Views on black leather longwings?

e.g.

Need some black shoes and these seem to be passable with a suit, good with trousers, possibly jeans etc so quite versatile. I think the burgundy is more casual but already have a loafer and plain toe in that colour.

I think having the plain toe in black and burgundy is a bit too similar and they look more formal.

Craka, I don't think any black formal shoe is meant to or looks any good with jeans.

It's possible… But I don't like to wear the burgundy plain toe as it looks a bit jeans and sheux

burgundy would be better casual. these black ones can do ok with some jeans I guess. if going full formal just get some black cap toe oxfords and be done with formal shoes for life.

Got some cheap (relatively) black cap toe but only for wearing with a suit. Need black as all my other shoes are brown / burgundy

Looking to pick up a pair of Trickers Grassmere in black scotch grain in a size 12. Come to the conclusion I'll have to pay full price for them unfortunately, unless anyone has seen them on sale anywhere?

Any thoughts or recommendations on Visvim virgil vs Viberg scout boots? Comfort, quality etc. Vibergs look a little lower, maybe a bit chunkier? I'm not near any stockists for either so comparing online photos
Thanks.

Owned them both and the Vibergs are much heavier and sturdier. Quality is a bit subjective but I think Vibergs are made of harder wearing materials. Virgils were fine and very comfortable although lightweight compared to the Vibergs.

Those Vibergs were my grails for ages but sold them immediately once I finally copped.

They're just too heavy for the use they're gonna realistically get.

I'll cop again if the apocalypse is imminent but while I'm still just poncing round the pub, I'm happy with Red Wings.

Thanks, specifically looking at the bureau specials on the vibram 2021 sole. Definitely look a bit chunkier/heavier weight which is what was making me think again - it's rough out suede so pretty substantial compared to split suede (I think virgils are split suede?).
How do the virgils come up size-wise? The most recent season ones?
