I concur. They are works of art but impractical unless you have Chris Hoy legs

I'm a bit worried now. Does anyone know the weight of a pair of Maine Guides?

You're in denial because they were expensive. We've all been there.
I love the silhouettes (…not chunky) and the quality of the leather. The fit is near perfect (except the mentioned problem) and i could live with the shine none or less. Just wanted to ask if there are some products/tips to remove the shine and make the fit perfect from the start. These are my first decent lace up boots, i usually only wear chelseas so i have no experience how they break in. To clarify, all of this has nothing to do with the price and i could still return them, but i won't.

cheers Doogan Cool

I have had a cobbler slightly stretch shoes before but not sure how it would work with that leather.
Or you could buy something like this

Although if you’re not keen on the finish it does seem a bit pointless to pay a premium for shoes with that finish

Thoughts on these Fracaps? Should I flip the laces for a red or blue?

Yes, red as blue might clash with denim a bit.

Beautifully made. Size up 1 full size. Commando-soled models are far more versatile as the foam Vibrams are completely useless on anything other than dry pavement.

You can order them on the Fracap site.

You might look a bit Christmassy in green and red boots mind.

Colour-wise they are grey. Looked in Fracap 10 euros for laces 15 euros to ship… any alternatives

Have a look at Mountval laces, loads of colours. I've had some in my walking boots for a couple of years and they still look good.

I really like the shape of Timberland boots but I would assume that the quality isn't there anymore plus the classic colour is very conspicuous. Who else does this style of work boot? I remember APC did a very nice rendition years ago.

Just get the Timbs. They're solid.

Maybe look for a Stussy collab if you want something a little different.

These are quite handsome actually.

Quality on the classic 6” are good.
Required to wear boots that cover the ankle on site/office, unless in the mine, and wear them all day all year round.
