Looking for a sturdy pair of navy shorts. No cargo pockets and to finish just above the knee. Have an ok pair of h&m chino shorts, but what I have in mind aren't actually chino type.

Yeah maybe - I always find with shorts though (design ones that is) that there always seems be loads of them in the sale. Might be worth holding out until the sales and bagging a few if that's what you want and investing for next summer or something.

I went medium and they can be out in at the waist, maybe should have gone for a small. Only issue they are very lightweight, bit wrinkly too now rural told me (no homo)

Cheers, you go for medium or small then DY? Been debating that myself Shane, but think it would be nice to go out and get one or two proper nice pairs I really like this time round. Got a few beater pairs as it is so no point buying two more from Gap for £60, might as well go the whole way.

Get what you pay for with those Uniqlo chino shorts. The lining of the pockets causes a crease to form and show through on the thigh and the fit at the knee aint brilliant.
The 8" gap ones look ok (for shorter fukers) and J Crew's look good. As mentioned before, Carhartt seem to do a decent range of fits.

Beginning to come round to the idea of spending more on shorts, especially seeing as the weather has been great the past week or two. Have a pair of EG and RL ones at the minute but not going on holiday until September so will probably hold out until the sales and get a beater pair from Uniqlo in the meantime.

These are the 'perfect' pair of shorts. Great fit, the exact right length. pockets like jeans and in all the colours you could need, and just the right money. Ten outta ten.
