It's so difficult to find a quality pair of shorts these days in the £120 range. I don't mean sports, cargo, swimming, board shorts, just ordinary shorts. I spent two hours perusing online then another 4 the next morning until settling on a 'last pair left in this size' of RL from Monsieur Porter.

Navy ones with a small ships wheel repeated print on. I'm going to return them as they're too thin, I thought they were cotton but it's a cotton blend.

ralph lauren linen blend shorts from the outlet are amazing. Something like £40, would happily pay triple that for them as they are perfect in every way. Gap are too tight on thighs for me, these have enough room but don't flare out and look baggy at the bottom, hit above the knee. Lined, etc. There's no competition, these are the best plain shorts / price you can buy

Less fabric but just as much work in terms of hems, seams, joins etc.
