Pretty much what Swede said. I was in Bankso 4 weeks ago, my first time skiing. The gondola up took fucking ages so a couple of days we just got a taxi up to the top. From there the ski lifts etc weren’t bad. Also it’s really cool from the top you and ski down to the main town, really nice route takes about 30 mins and was perfect for a beginner like me and an opportunity for the entire group to ski together. There was 16 of us and maybe 4 were quite advanced and tbh they got bored quite quickly so I think it’s more geared to beginners. Things are dead cheap like food and booze. I did lessons all but one day and was only like 25 quid a day which seemed pretty cheap. Bankso was pretty cool too, enough to do like bars and restaurants. Only issue is Bulgarian people are the rudest and most uncouth people I’ve met. Didn’t meet one local person that was remotely friendly or nice.

Bansko is where we are going, just wanted to have a cheapo thing to make sure I can still board and enjoy it still and then all being well France/Austria next season. I always used to fucking hate ski roads but heard that that road was quite good. Quite happy with easy stuff this time round while I get acclimatised. How much was the pass?

Landed a pretty big jump at quite some speed on a patch of ice and my leg went snap.

Think my form was a bit off and that combined with the altitude/speed and the ice was too much. The ski on the side of my broken leg also fractured right under the boot.

But I honestly don't really have any recollection of it all happening.

Brutal Sad

Think it was 30 quid a day for ski pass. Genuinely get to the gondola for 15 mins before it opens or you’ll be stood there for hours surrounded by people just pushing in front of you. Or just get a taxi up. Think it’s a fiver per person.

Yeah the ski road was great, a few bars along the way which we stopped at but were usually pretty weird I dunno whether people can’t afford to drink there or something.

We are going with people who have been going late season every year so hopefully it won’t be too bad. I think I’ll be quite happy just cruising around on that top run for most of the week just to get back into it.
Thanks for the info. I’ll let you know my experience on my (god willing) return..

Could have been much worse though. Got lucky.

Who here got a back protector? I kinda wish I did. Is it annoying to wear?

I'm visiting a mate in Zurich in March for a few days but wouldn't mind hitting a ski resort with the missus for a few days afterwards. I'm a bit of a novice can manage blues no problem and the easier reds.

Is St Moritz best? Davos maybe a shade cheaper? Is there somewhere closer thats decent?

Don't really want to make a 4/5 hour trip to Zermatt, Verbier etc.

I can get behind that.

Though it's mostly Brits that still snowboard nowadays.

I like mayrhofen.
Apres is good, but with so many bars you get a lot of half empty places.
