So I guess if UK retailers are also selling to EU / US and margin has taken a hit that might be another reason sales aren't as generous?

Fedex working fine for me, ordered Nitty Gritty, came within 5 days. 167 EUR, seems no further charges.

Via Zenmarket, also ok in terms of delivery time, about 4 days from dispatch. Been using Fedex for a while via Stylistics instead of EMS as much quicker, they normally deliver and invoice later so no waiting at customs but I got a text the day before this time with the charges, remained quick end to end.

Charges a bit iffy tho..

10500 jpy + 5500 shipping (shipping a little pricey - boots). I make that circa £120

£63.42 of which £12 was a handling charge.

There’s so much chaos and backlog you’re bound to get lucky on some stuff. They just can’t check everything right now.

We had to shut our whole European ops down because we couldn’t cope and nobody had supplied paperwork for goods.

I can’t be specific but we are more or less just letting it all in now before any official work is done. It’s a fuckin mess and heads will roll.

The government have more or less said behind closed doors you have six months to break the law and then we want it all cleaned up.

We are just being told to be careful nothing dangerous gets in. It’s so shocking I’m thinking of walking away.

Just been hit by DHL for a shipment from Italy £117.79. Either the Italian retailer didn't use DDP as they said they would, or DHL trying it on, either way I'm being DP'ed.

The delivery companies are having a field day as they can do whatver they want.
They have your goods and nobody is following the law.

I’m telling you now, it’s absolute bedlam behind the scenes.
Waive this, charge that, let that go, keep that in the warehouse.

ADMIN FEES.
You are being fucked senseless.

There are nearly 100 clearance operators where I work and 75 of them don’t know what DDP or an Incoterm is.

Also, most of the companies are used to trading.I mean properly even before Brexit using EORI and VAT registration.

Now we have maybe millions of people ‘trading’ and paying for the privilege.
If you’re thinking or buying anything from outside the UK I wouldn’t go near the EU.

Ordered back in November and hoped it'd arrive before the new year. Retailer kept assuring me it wouldn't be an issue, so now I'm holding them to it.

Can't wait for the one via FedEx now!

So if you don't pay, what happens? Just gets sent back to retailer? At whose expense?

Well you won’t get any postage back for sure and you’ll probably get hit for returns of some sort.

Just forget it and buy from NA or Asia.
I feel sorry for Europe because I don’t wanna say fuck Europe, it’s not their fault.
It’s fuck the UK.

I would like to see the figures for how much b2c activity there is from UK customers to Europe. I.e. How big is the impact. I agree its a shame to rule those stores out. None of them are prepared to mark down it seems.

As said before. Stick to NA and APAC

This is what i'm very worried about, delivery companies doing what they want, charging people even in case of DDP.

Unless it's a private sale, I won't be ordering from the UK for a good while

Agree with the above, it's just as bad the other way. Ordered from UK into Europe and getting hit by Duty/Courier/Tax fees of 40% and higher, won't be ordering again anytime soon.

Opportunity for a UK proxy service but probably too much hassle for the person sending!

Finally received a response from END.

——————————————————————————————————————————
'Due to recent changes in the UK & EU’s trade agreements, customers living within the EU will no longer be charged VAT on their purchases from END.

The current prices on our EU website have remained the same, however this will no longer include a VAT breakdown.

Our orders will be shipped on a DAP (Delivered at Place) service and you may be required to pay duties and taxes on your purchase when it arrives in the destination country.'
——————————————————————————————————————————

So basically, on certain items (have already gone through their site to price compare) they're failing to remove the VAT at checkout and if you order to Europe, you'll be hit with VAT + Customs at DAP. In effect double taxation.

Cheeky.
