Ordered 2 pairs of running shoes from Runinn first week of January. They’ve been stuck in Spain for weeks and in the meantime I’ve sourced a pair from elsewhere. I got a letter this morning from parcelforce wanting £45 before they deliver the Runinn parcel I no longer need. After 20 days, if I don’t pay, this gets returned to sender.
What’s the easiest way of going about this? Should I pay the charges and sort the return myself? Or don’t pay and allow the parcel to be returned to Spain? WWYD?
I would just wait it out and not pay. If it says it will be returned to sender they can process your refund, surely? Maybe ping Runinn an email after 20 days and day that you didn't want to pay the import charges or whatever and it will be sent back by the Courier?
In other news… not that buy from them but I'm on their mailing list.
Iron Heart:
We are very sad that the UK has left the European Union (EU).
We didn’t want this, didn’t vote for this, but now we – and you, our loyal EU friends and customers – are having to face the unhappy consequences.
We had hoped to protect our EU customers by covering any additional sales taxes you would be charged, we figured that as we would no longer be paying 20% VAT to the UK government on EU sales, we could afford to pay your local country VAT on your behalf. Sadly, the very high additional fees and charges being imposed by the courier companies and the individual EU customs agencies mean that to do this we are heavily penalised, to the extent that we are making significant losses on many individual shipments to EU countries.
We are working very hard on a viable solution.
We are also investigating setting up an operation in the EU so that all EU orders can be shipped from within the EU and you will be able to receive deliveries without additional cost or inconvenience. Of course, this will take some time to implement.
For a short period, we will not be taking orders from EU customers (with immediate effect).
We hope to be able to resume taking orders and making shipments again in March, with new EU processes to be outlined as soon as possible.
We are devastated that this has happened. Rest assured we are working around the clock to try and find a resolution.

If you don't pay then I imagine they won't refund your postage but it should still be cheaper than paying then returning?

don't accept and let them return it. but they will charge you postage for that. don't know the fees for parcelforce etc. but here in Germany they increased the postage for the UK by 12 euro or so

Thought so, cheers guys. I’ve used that website a few times in the past and always thought it was a UK site, not that it mattered up until this year. Lesson learned.

Looking to purchase something from a private seller in the EU. Do I request the usual ‘gift’ and value as £20? Also, are there delays on packages that are from a private EU seller to someone in the UK or just issues from EU retail stores? Thanks

Asking in here as well.
Anyone have any experience of sending packages as a gift? This is on the HMRC site and am just checking if this is right?
Type and value of goods
Gifts worth £135-£630
Customs Duty
2.5%, but rates are lower for some goods - call the helpline
Does this essentially mean that you will only pay 2.5% on a gift parcel marked with a value below £630? Just want to understand as a parcel I am considering with EeePee is approx £800.

My item that was “held” in a Spanish warehouse for nearly a month has now left and seems to be en route to me. Wonder if I’m going to get hit with a nice import tax to accompany it.

If I went to Paris ((later in the yr) never been before!) to pick up an item, its not clothing so it would be hard to explain if the bag was checked, and understanding that there is a customs gate at St Pancake, if I declare an item what kind of proof do I need for value? Ideally would like to declare item(s) something like £30 to £50. It's considerably higher so wouldn't want to use the invoice. Could I say I picked it up at a flea market and if so how do they check?
Alt, is there anyone on here a resident?

You'd never be able to show your face in the local again if you got done for smuggling vases.
