I went to him with something quite basic and even though the results are cruder than anything I've got I'm glad I did it. I'd run out of tegaderm so I used a product called Hydro Film for healing- applied it after the tattoo had dried out a bit and kept it on for 4 days. It was as good if not a better result than tegaderm which I've been using for 6 years now.

I get what you mean but this is

Yeah just looking around the internet there seems to be a few prescribed methods of application- this one ^^ seems to involve an application after the piece is finished and then a secondary application after 24 hours- seems like your guy has got it a bit mixed up. But I don't get that first application- no way would the dressing stick to so much weeping plasma. Whatever works tho.

It was initially developed for use in in the battlefield, pretty much sticky back plastic that they whack on fresh wounds.
The first time I used it the tattooer said it might not stay stuck as it was a big coverage, and went onto a joint, the second time was a smaller are and close to a joint it started to peal away by the joint so I pealed it off, the third time was a massive area and it was pulling body hair out so I pealed it off, it was that hard to get it off it brought a rash to the surface of the skin. I wouldn't like to think I was putting that on and pealing off regularly. All three of those tattooers told me the same thing, leave it on as long as you can, and it will peal off when the tattoo heals, but obviously bodies move about and it can peal off so leave it as long as you can.
If I told you who they where I'm pretty sure you wouldn't think they'd got mixed up.
Unless we are talking about different stuff and I'm getting mixed up!
Genuinely find the best method is wash it,and keep it out of the sun.

I only have one tattoo but my Artist swore by tagiderm. They wacked it on immediately after the session and I was told to keep it on for like 10 days or so which i did. I thought it was great, basicly peeled it off in the hot shower 10 days later to a fully healed arm. Tat still looks great and i credit that partially to the healing process (and my religious application of sunscreen lol)
