@ noble: the script "familia" wasn't on the design originally. He drew different components of the tattoo on seperate pieces of paper (nurse and rose) and i noticed the script on one of the pieces of paper. i had told him why i wanted a tattoo and i think that's why he'd drawn it up but for some reason hadn't included it. i spotted it and said that i'd love to include it in the design. It looking dated isn't really that important to me because i didn't get a tattoo for the sake of getting one, it's not an accessory if you get me. its a tribute to family and a way of documenting bad times in a colourful way to me.

@docdoom: says familia and the nurse.. is a bit personal really. you'll have to e-trust me that it is well justified Eye-wink

Tatoos are always primarily an accessory imo.

Yeah I do too, but don't really understand the whole thing about it most important purpose to document something. He knows what happened so why does he need a colourful tatoo on an obvious part of his body to remind himself.

I agree Paolo but that's just how I am. Horses for course aint it. We're all different and that may feel right to him. We don't know the motivation behind it either which is part of it as well.

It's not agony, just very painfull in certain places, anywhere boney is more painfull (elbows, ribs, ankle etc.)

Also, alcohol makes your skin more sensitive, and thins your blood making you bleed more, whihc makes it harder work for the tattooist.

i think the thing is paulo, experiences good or bad, fade with time. i guess it marks it pretty well. despite it representing bad experience i dont want it to fade in my mind. that's part of it too. i see what you mean about primarily being an accessory because i've always liked tattoo's but would never have got one without a good reason. people say tattooing is addictive but i dont really have an urge to have another. i've got what i wanted. hopefully i won't have another reason to have one but if i do, i would probably get one.
it's daft to think that everyone will like everything you ever do. i wanted something that not everyone will like but something that most people can respect.

Would have been better off having a giant black blob and just telling people it was an unfortunate birth mark or something

The way I see it is you're going to majorly regret whatever tat you get at some point n your life. The difference between a Crooks and Castle tee and a tat is one you can throw the other you end up feeling regret every time you see it or are asked about it. I also think they've lost the 'being individual' feature as every tom dick and tarquin has one now.
