Have you not experienced the down time which Superfuture have had recently? They were down for a week before and after Christmas. I also think they get a lot of their revenue through advertising like from Diesel etc… I know there are adverts on this place, but not many. Also Superfuture is nowhere near as busy as this place. As for Kicksxchange, well look how dead that place is, it's a classifieds forum specifically to buy and sell, there's no general chit chat or anything like that, so I'm guessing the traffic on that is very very low. With FUK, you have a constant traffic pretty much 24/7 not to mention the forum itself is a hub of activity, look how busy it gets…

As for ISS aren't they funded by Sole Collector magazine/store?!

Despite them having more "traffic", Superfuture have a lot of big advertisers on their site. Not to mention that their server is probably based in the USA making it a helluva lot cheaper. You compared server prices to here and the USA?!

Well from observation, I see more posts made on here than on Superfuture. Does that graph actually show activity? or just page hits? as in people viewing the page.

I would imagine Nike Talk is a lot busier than all of the boards mentioned so far.

I am perfectly happy and understand if someone just says "hey, this is my board, Im here to make money, so you're gonna pay a tenner if you list on here, in the same way you have to pay money on ebay". (Yes of course that is their right). Just dont really like people making out its not a profit making exercise, when it blatantly is.

What I am a bit sceptical about is these kind of reasons mentioned like:

"erm… its to make classifieds safer for you"

"people who are golden wont like 'non-golden' people making money from Classifieds"

"servers are dead expensive when used in high volume, so were gonna charge you a tenner, even though S.F., Nike Talk etc are all free and much busier, and FUK still has black outs anyway"

As for all the people who have now paid this famous tenner, basically their responses boil down to:

"I'm all right Jack" (until the 'membership' fee becomes yearly, then bi-annual, then quarterly)

and:

"Shit, I paid a tenner, dont really know why: so now you should pay too"

shut up your whining you tight bastard. its pretty simple; if you dont like it then click the white X in the red box at the top right. geeeeez some people Roll Eyes

try going to the other forums and start moaning about their flaws or even try a little bit of bad language and when they boot you off you can say "well you can do that on fuk the forum so why not here?" and see how far you get.

No offence to anyone but i donated my tenner to keep fuk going smoothly cos of the years i've spent wasting time on here not to have the oppurtunity to post in the classifieds. I think all aspects of the site should be open to everyone as that is one of the reasons fuk is so great plus by limiting to goldens than surely ur completely shutting out thousands of items that you may want? Just my two pennies. I'm all for peace love and unity

Agreed, the amount I have annoyed Bran & ben over the last few years it is worth a tenner to keep it going.

i dont think you'll shut out that many items as i think the majority of people who post in the for sale section are the same names over and over again (most of which are goldens now anyway).

As a forum owner myself i know that if you just leave it to people who will just randomly donate to support the forum you'll get bugger all. You need to either promote a specific donation (like noble started before) or you need to charge for advanced features or privies. The simplest way to do it is to charge for those who profit/make money on the forum (ie sellers). I dont see a problem, few places in the world allow you to trade without charging you for it.

For private sellers you could introduce a more complexed system where maybe your allowed to sell 1 item per month for free or something. But it would be a bit complicated to keep on top of it so i guess the tenner a year way it much easier.

At the end of the day its a tenner for a whole year. Its a damn site cheaper than selling on ebay and its a very targetted market if your selling clothes etc.

If you gave a tenner to everyone you've annoyed, you'lld go bankrupt.

I would actually prefer a charge per item listing (e.g. £1 or something) rather than yearly fee, cos I dont use FUK for anything other than classifieds, (to look and see if there's anything I'd like to buy from other members, or alt. to sell)

as for j60.com's comment about being a "tight bastard", if I donated a tenner to every clothes related board I have ever used, per year, that would be quite expensive at around £90 - 100 a year just off the top of my head?

bit silly to start insulting people cos they disagree with a particular new forum policy, but anyway.
