Craming festival line ups each with 5/6 headliners on each bill. Venue is never big enough for the amount of people, more and more it is full of divs. Not even considered one this year apart from a mate was on about a techno line up (guessing ostgut ton?) which is a shame, just tons more better venue/crowds/line ups elsewhere.

I would say the Prodigy would attract an older crowd, dont think they are 'current' / Radio friendly like those other two groups. Also room 2 is 'old skool' which should be great. As I approach 30 its the clueless students who annoy me most about WHP
I really liked the smaller second room atmosphere which was playing Horse Meat Disco last time I went to the current venue, the main room was literally inaccessible at times.

i haven't lived there for a while now but not sure about the house scene being in decline in mcr; from what i've seen there's a lot of wicked smaller nights that have put on quality underground acts - meandyou, cutloose, wet play, electric chair (obv. finished now but their 'end of year riot' parties are always amazing), homoelectric, content, selective hearing, etc.
although i guess it depends what you mean by top producers.

That's it, every now and again a big lineup at a bigger venue can be fantastic.went to Swamp81 @ heaven last weekend which is a relative big venue but felt small. Didn't take to long to get served or wasnt a hassle to move around. Nothing worse then debating can you go for a piss and get back to the same spot/mates again, so everyone has to go each time.
i haven't been for a couple of years but the crowds were fucking terrible then, god only knows what they'll be like now they're putting on rudimental and disclosure and the prodigy.

It is the Essex types that annoy me the most, last time I went to quite a shit night for a mates bday, main room was literally a tide of people at times crushes everywhere. Was more than happy to sit in the second room watching a Basement Jaxx set and Todd Edwards. Was surprisingly a good night.
I was more bothered about the preservation and future use of Mayfield Station than the actual WHP season itself.
I disagree to a certain extent of them somehow having a foothold on the best acts. I honestly don't think without the WHP, that the city would continue to attract the big names. The clubbing scene, and in particular the house music scene outside of WHP has been on the decline here, in general, for years - well before its Boddington days. Most of the top producers have been sweving us for years apart from a few that have arguably had their day. Granted there's evidence of a resurgence in NQ2022 and Kraak Gallery but these are still relatively small time. Play to the drug crowd.
