Official thread sponsor: The Denim Doctor. First aid for your old denim.

———————————————————————————-

Acne - fit true to size

APC New Standards -size down 2 or even 3 from true waist size

APC New Cures - size down 1 or 2 from true waist size

April 77 - size down 1 or 2 from true waist size

Dior raw 19s and 21s - have vanity sizing and are labelled as two sizes smaller than actual size

Edwin Nashvilles - size down 1" - quite a different fit to most jeans out there though (massive rise, loose at thigh and comparitively tapered at the leg).

Julian Red - fit small, so maybe true to size on raw and possibly size up on non raws

Nudies - size down 1 or 2

Raf by Raf - true

Ring - true

Good to see Michael Denim Doctor on This Old Thing Cool

Quick queston for the denim headz.

I've got a couple of pairs of old worn and washed a few times jeans (dior mij 19s and sugarcane sc47s) that are a touch big on the waist.

If I wash them at 60 are they likely to shrink a bit or not. And will a 60 wash fuck them up at all?

Washing them at 60 will remove more indigo than a wash at 30. Lots of hot washes usually lead to a washed out 'dad jeans' look, I try to avoid that. Possibly try a very hot soak on just the waist.

Saw a decent looking wash on a pair of APC PNS in Selfridges the other day.

N&F weird guy is bigger in the thighs and a tapered / slim fit. I love the fit, not necessarily fanboi friendly but hey

Any one have a link to info on the various nudie styles - I had thin fins years ago and they were ball breaking- what's the next non tight model they do, equivalent to PS or NPS ideally. Cheers

Not denim but trousers… Has anyone had the waist took in by a tailor? I've had some EG trousers for about two years now and they're a 32" waist, I'd like them to be a 30".

Is it possible? I'm just wondering how the whole top half of the trousers would sit afterwards.

theyl never be perfect as a 32 and 30 differ in more areas in the top block that just the waist but better than no use at all, just make sure they do it properly by unstiching the rear seat seam and not just the waist

Never owned a pair myself, but always heard positive things on here. Washes look great. Tempted by a couple of pairs on the Bureau myself.

Giving a 3 year old pair of ED39 selvages their first wash today. Rinse only, cold wash, hot wash, with / without detergent and fabric conditioner?

Personally, I'd go with cold wash with detergent.
